Chapter Nineteen: Finding Ronnie

3057 Words
**Lorenzo's POV** "Well, did you catch them?!" I asked Teo and Marco as they returned to the mansion. The solemn looks on their face gave me enough information. They were unsuccessful and my baby girl had been taken. I took a deep breath before addressing the men. "Alright, well what do we know? Did they say anything?" "They will let us know what they want eventually. But they didn't say when. All we can do now is wait." Marco responded. "How did this happen? How did they know she was back already?" I asked out loud not looking for a response. "It's safe to say Don Enzo we indeed do have a rat." Teo said through gritted teeth. I looked over to Teo and noticed blood seeping through his shirt creating a small puddle by his feet. "Teo, you need to see the nurse. You're bleeding and I can't have you dying on me now. We have to save my daughter." I stated to him. "It's just a scratch. I'll get it checked later. I got the license plate of one of the SUV's. It's a good place to start." "No. Just give me the information and go to the nurse now. Marco, see what you can pull from the surveillance cameras. I know they had their faces covered but we might be able to catch something." Teo and Marco agreed and left my office. I took a moment and looked around at the many photos I had of Ronnie displayed in my home office. I couldn't help the tears slowly trickle down my face. It's been years since I cried and I didn't even cry when I heard Emma passed away. But watching everything unfold in front of my eyes did something to me. I did everything I could to save her but it still wasn't enough. I took out my cell phone and dialed Luca. To my knowledge, I believed he was still at the warehouse checking for anything suspicious. "Luca, any news?" "Yes Don. Ricci and I have some evidence to believe Roxane may have been involved with Ronnie's kidnapping." I was speechless. Roxane was one of my most valuable undercover agents I ever had. She used her body to get the information we needed and she wasn't ashamed of what she had to do. I know most of the men have dabbled with her after hours but that's none of my business. I was shocked to think someone so close to me would have betrayed our family. "Elaborate please." I stated calmly. "Ricci and I were going over some of the surveillance videos from earlier when we noticed something odd. Roxane had a run in with Teo and Veronica and she didn't seem happy to see them arrive together. She knew Teo was watching her this whole time and I don't remember anyone telling her about that mission." "Interesting. Continue." I hear Luca take a breath before speaking again. "Once Teo and Veronica left Roxanne, she appeared to have a slight fit and next thing we see, she's making a phone call. I have Tony trying to tap in her system to see if he can get a record of the conversation. But what's interesting was the fact at how quick her attitude changed after she made the phone call. She could be seen skipping out of the building." "Skipping??" "Yes sir, skipping." "Have her brought into the interrogation room and I'll be there in about 15 minutes. Try to not to make it too obvious. I doubt at this hour people would be nosy." "Consider it done, Don Enzo." And Luca ended the call. I got up out of my chair and headed to the medical bay in the basement of the mansion. I made sure I had everything once the mansion was built. Emma and I were supposed to grow old together in this house but God had a different plan for us. Emma chose most of the furniture, paint colors, and even the layout of the house. Unfortunately, the only time this place felt like a true home was when she lived here. Veronica was bringing the place back to life again when she was here and now she's gone which is my fault. "How's he doing, Rose?" I asked her when I noticed she was washing her hands. "He's stitched up now. It wasn't that deep of a cut but he obviously kept fighting which made it worse." Rose said with her voice filled with concern. "He's awake and getting dressed if you want to go in and speak to him." "Thanks, Rose." I offered her a reassuring smile before entering the room. "What do you have, Lorenzo?" Teo asked me while he buttoned his shirt. I could still see the blood and cut from where the knife entered his body. The boy is lucky he didn't get stabbed higher. "What do you know about Roxane?" "Roxane? You know I don't mess around with her like that anymore. There's not enough alcohol in the world to get me to f**k with her again." I couldn't help but chuckle. "I know you're better than that now. Especially since I know you have your eyes on my daughter." I saw Teo's face drain of color. It's nice to know I still invoke some fear in him. "But what I do wanna know is do you have any reason to believe she would be the rat or even associated with the rat?" "Roxane is a jealous b***h but she's not stupid. I highly doubt she would try to go after your daughter." "Luca found out she made a phone call after chatting with you earlier today and I have Tony trying to get into the call." Teo paused for a moment. "Why do you think that call was so important?" "Her whole demeanor changed and apparently she skipped out the building. Who the f**k skips anymore?" I said puzzled. "How close is Tony to getting into the call?" Teo asked and it seemed he had now become more focused. "I was just coming down here to get you. I'm on my way over now." "Good. Let's go." Teo said as he passed right by me and out the room. The whole drive to the warehouse, Teo never said a word. He stared out the window appearing to be deep in thought. I know when Teo gets this way, he means business. I guess he really does care for my daughter. This is good because she's going to need all the help she can get. "Luca, what do we have?" I said as I entered the security room. "We were able to get her side of the call but nothing else. It's odd actually. It seems the person used some kind of technology to mask not only his voice but where he was receiving the call." "Where's Roxane now?" Teo asked. "She's in the interrogation room waiting for one of you. She seems to be completely calm about the whole thing. Like she expected to be caught." "Well she knows we have ways of making people talk. This should be exciting." Marco said while rubbing his hands together. "Teo, see what you can get out of her." I said with a smirk. He nodded his head and disappeared into the room. Marco, Luca, and I were on the other side watching through the window. I wasn't going to miss a moment. My daughter's life is on the line. "Teo! Maybe you can help me. I have no idea why I'm here. Don Lorenzo's men just grabbed me and tossed me into this room. You and I both know I have better things to be doing." Roxane said smugly with a grin. Teo didn't say anything and just sat across from her waiting to see what she would say next. He put his hands together on the table and motioned for her to continue. "Ugh. Like I've been saying. I don't know why I'm here! The last mission I was sent on was successful and I didn't give away any information so please explain to me why I'm stuck in this f*****g room!" "See, what we aren't going to do is yell, Roxane. You're a lady. Maybe you should act like one." Teo finally speaks. Roxane was taken back by his tone but she tried to hide her fear. It showed for a moment but that's all Teo needed to get going. Teo is my number two for a reason. "Now that I got your attention. Let's talk about your phone records, shall we?" Teo pulled out a folder and tossed it over to Roxane. "Take a look. It's rather interesting if you ask me." Roxane skimmed through the paperwork but wasn't surprised. "So I make a few calls with the company phone that are personal? What's so wrong with that?" Teo got up and pointed to the phone call we all wanted to know more about it. "What's wrong with it is that this particular call you made yesterday, right before Veronica was taken, doesn't look too good for you." "What are you talking about? Veronica was taken? So much for your training, Teo. Didn't really help her when it needed to." Roxane giggles a little making Teo slam his fist on the table. Roxane jumps back in her seat and quickly composes herself. "We know what you told them. Luca was able to get that part off of the call. However, we still need some more information that obviously only you have." "I didn't tell them anything and you can't prove shit." Roxane said while crossing her arms. Teo pulled out a tape recorder and pushed play. "Yes, she's back. She's with Teo now. Don't think they will be at the warehouse much longer. Now is the perfect time to grab her. Yes... Yes... Consider it done." "Roxane, you know how this goes. You either give us the information willingly, or we take it by force. Either way, you're not leaving this room alive." Teo said with a smile. "Alright! Fine! I'll tell you. But I want to make a deal." "No deals." "Bullshit! I've been here for years. I demand a deal, Teo!" Teo paused for a moment before continuing. "No, Roxanne. You don't get a deal. And you know why you won't be getting a deal? You f****d with the wrong daughter." Teo gathered the paperwork up and left the room. "She's all yours boss." Teo said as he handed me the folder. "No, not yet. Marco, you're up." Marco smiled at me and quickly went into the room. "Well hello gorgeous. I hate that we have to meet again like this." Marco smirked. Roxane's face goes completely pale. All signs of color have drained from her and sweat was starting to appear on her forehead. "Marco, please! You said..." Roxane tries to plead but was swiftly interrupted by Marco. "No, Roxy baby. No begging yet. We haven't even started." Roxane tries to get out of her chair but is forcefully pushed back down by Marco. Marco sits on her and ties a rope around her and the chair keeping her in place. Once tied up, Marco pulls a knife out of his pocket and begins to run the blade gently across her face. Marco looks at the glass where we are watching and taps on it signaling Teo to return. Teo enters the room and leans his body against the wall. Marco smiles back at Teo and then returns his attention to Roxane. "Now, we have some questions for you and we want answers. It's that simple. Answer honestly and I won't hurt you. But, if you lie, or try to plead for your life again, you're gonna get hurt Barbie. Understand?" Roxane says nothing but keeps looking at Marco. I find it a little odd but Roxane slept with many of my men so of course there would be history between the two. Teo approaches Roxanne and slaps her hard across the face. "He asked if you understand. That requires you answer." "Y-yes..." Roxane mumbles as her face instantly swells from the blow. I don't normally tolerate violence against women but I've come to notice a few things with my line of work. One lesson I learned was never underestimate any person. Man or woman. Both have emotions and both know how to seek revenge. Most of my enemies happen to be men but there have been a few assassins that were women. When your life's on the line, gender doesn't matter. You fight to live and you fight to kill. And this is one of those instances where gender doesn't matter. Roxane has information about Veronica and we need it. "Good. Now, who were you talking to when you made that call?" Teo asks. "I-I don't know who it was. I was just given the phone number." Roxane blurts out. "You know we're gonna need more than that." Teo states. Marco moves a little closer to her and slowly places a deep cut along her left cheek. She immediately screams in pain. "I don't know who it was. I swear. I was just told to make the call once I saw Veronica back in the warehouse." Tears are rolling down her face now at this point. I tap on the glass which notifies Teo and Marco to dig deeper. "Who told you to make the call?" Teo asks. Marco moves close to Roxane again. He holds her head forward facing Teo and makes another deep cut on the opposite side of her face. She screams again as blood slowly drips down both sides of her face. "Come on, Roxy. You know what you need to tell them." Marco says into her ear. Roxane looks worried and looks back at Marco. Why does she keep looking at Marco, I thought to myself. Roxane takes a deep breath before responding. "Tony gave me the number..." Teo and Marco both look at me through the glass in shock. Tony? No that can't be right. I tap on the glass again. "What do you mean Tony gave you the number?" Teo asked again. "Tony's the spy. He's the one leaking information to the cartel." Roxane said with her head down. I slammed my fist in the glass and left the room. I went straight into Tony's office where he was busy on the computer. He was surprised to see my intrusion. "Hey, Don Lorenzo! I'm just finishing up getting information off of the plates on the...." I didn't dare let him finish. I swiftly pulled out my gun and shot him right between the eyes. Moments later, I watch as his body drops to the ground lifeless. Teo comes rushing into the office a few seconds later. "Enzo! We needed him! If he was the leak, we could have gotten the location from him or something. Why did you go and kill him?!" Teo shouts. "No one betrays me and lives, Teo. Roxane is next. Have Marco finish her. I'm going back upstairs. Don't follow me. Finish up whatever Tony was doing and have Ricci clean up this mess. I need a drink." I don't wait to hear what Teo has to say. I gather my things and head into my office for a much needed drink. It has already been almost two days and I haven't heard any demands from Veronica's kidnappers which worries me. The Russians will be here in couple days and now I don't know my next move. I wish Emma was still around because Lord knows I need her now more than ever. **Meanwhile, Marco's POV** "Oh baby, you did great." I said as I kiss Roxane's forehead. "Sorry about the cuts. You know I had to do it. It won't be that bad of scar." "For f***s sake, Marco. Get me out of here already. You said I wouldn't get caught! How the f**k did that happen?!" "Shhh not so loud. Someone could still hear you. And I didn't think you would make the call in the warehouse. If you would have called outside, you never would have gotten caught. That's all on you." "Whatever. Now can you please untie me!?" Roxane tried to yell in a whisper tone. "See, now that you got caught, the plan has changed baby. I don't need you anymore. Actually, I never really needed you but your jealousy is a beautiful thing." I said with a smirk. I can tell she's confused. "W-what do you mean the plan has changed? I thought you wanted me to be your girl? Right next to you when you take the Don down." Tears were flowing again down her face. "Well, you're gonna have to die now." "Wait! No! Please, Marco! Just let me go and I'll disappear. No one will ever see or hear from me again. I promise! Please don't kill me!" I couldn't hold in my laugh anymore. "God, you sound even more pathetic when you beg. I'm a little disappointed with you. You were once a strong female assassin in the crew but now you're just some cheap w***e the guys pass around. You actually believe I was going to have you at my side? b***h, please. Ronnie has been the goal along. And now that I finally have her where I want her, I don't need you anymore." I heard a chime from my phone and I looked down to see a text message from Teo. I knew already what the message was about and I smiled. "Boss said to cut all loose ends. Get rid of her.." "Well, that didn't take long at all." I said as I showed Roxane the message. "I told you to play it smart. But thankfully, you got the big part of the job done for me. And for that, I'll always be thankful for baby." Roxane started to scream and plead for her life. Calling for help but no one would come. They all saw her as a rat and no one ever saves the rat. I took my knife out of my pocket and slowly approached her again. "Now, because I like ya, do you want it to be quick and easy or do you want a more intimate experience?..."
