Luca kissed me like he was still angry.
Like every second Rowan had looked at me replayed in his head and he needed to erase it.
His hands gripped my waist firmly as he backed me against the kitchen counter, dark gray eyes locked onto mine the entire time.
“Tell me who you belong to,” he said softly against my mouth.
My heart pounded.
“You.”
His jaw tightened at the answer, like he needed it more than he wanted to admit.
“Again.”
“You, Luca.”
A slow, dangerous smile crossed his face before he kissed me deeper.
The apartment felt too warm, too small, filled with tension that had been building all night. Every touch carried jealousy beneath it. Possession. Fear.
And love.
Always love.
Luca brushed his fingers through my hair before resting his forehead against mine for a moment, breathing unevenly.
“You looked at him tonight,” he murmured.
I swallowed hard.
“He means nothing.”
“But he wants you.”
The words came out rough.
I touched his face gently. “I came home with you.”
That finally seemed to calm something inside him.
His shoulders relaxed slightly before he lifted me onto the counter, standing between my knees while his hands traced slowly along my thighs.
The intensity in his gaze made heat rush through me instantly.
“You have no idea what you do to me,” he admitted quietly.
The vulnerability in his voice caught me off guard.
Because beneath Luca’s confidence was someone terrified of losing the person he loved most.
I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him softer this time.
Reassuring.
Slow.
He melted into it immediately, one hand sliding to the small of my back as he held me closer.
Outside, rain tapped softly against the apartment windows while the city lights glowed through the darkness.
Everything else disappeared.
No Rowan.
No rivalry.
No chaos.
Just us.
Luca rested his head against my shoulder afterward, fingers still tangled with mine while both of us tried to catch our breath.
“You’re stuck with me,” he said quietly.
I smiled, brushing my fingers through his hair.
“Good.”
But even as I said it…
A pair of dark eyes flashed through my mind.
Watching.
Waiting.
And somewhere deep down, I knew Rowan Cross wasn’t finished with us yet.
