Chapter 100

1885 Words

Lagos Sitting at the foot of Ness’s bed, I hold her stuffed bear in my hands, stealing occasional glances toward the door. It’s been a while since we returned to the apartment. We argued over who should travel to New York. We all wanted to go, but in the end, only Alex, Ness, and I will make the trip. Until Zakharov gets the exact location, all we can do is wait and get some rest. The events of the last few hours have left us all on edge. I had to convince Ness to take a hot shower and try to sleep a little. It’s been almost an hour, and she still hasn’t come out of the bathroom. I exhale sharply, staring at the worn bear in my hands. My thoughts are a mess. I was supposed to marry some random girl to solidify our deal with the Russians and to run from my feelings for Jenkins.
