Hated by her Alpha mate

The reveal

Rachel finished eating her starters and decided to take a break from food. She leaned against a pillar in one of the corners of the hall, drinking her champagne. She wanted to stay away from the crowd as much as possible. While scanning the hall, her eyes fell upon Alfred, who was chatting with a woman.

The woman was wearing a red gown with a plunging neckline which revealed more than her cleavage. She was very hot and curvy and had put on a lot of makeup. Her dress had a slit that exposed most of her left leg until her hip. The dress had a very low cut to her back which left hardly anything to the imagination. Her hair was tied up in a high ponytail. Many men in the room gaped at her as they passed by.

Alfred looked very natural and casual talking to her. The woman was touching his shoulders every few seconds. Rachel felt a weird emotion inside her.

"Rachel, there you are!" called Avery.

"Hi. You look so pretty!" Avery was wearing a black, bodycon, strapless gown, made of sequin.

"Thanks! Why are you hiding in this corner? You should try to enjoy the party."

"I am not very sociable."

"I can understand. By the way, did you see Alf?"

"There." Rachel pointed in his direction, slightly annoyed.

That w***e of a woman. Why won't she leave him alone? Thought Avery in disgust when she saw them. She felt a similar vibe coming from Rachel. She calmed herself and talked to Rachel casually,

"Ah..that is Stacy Adams. You might have heard of her. She is a well-known singer."

"Nope never heard." lied Rachel. She remembered the name from the conversation at lunch in her office.

"They used to date each other."

"Are they still close?" Rachel asked with a hint of jealousy.

"How do I put it? She is like a parasite. She is infatuated with him and never leaves an opportunity to get in his pants."

Rachel felt very uncomfortable and disgusted hearing that.

Ryan appeared holding two glasses of wine.

"For you, pretty ladies." He offered them each a glass. Rachel finished the champagne already in her hand in one gulp and kept down the empty glass. She took the glass of wine from Ryan.

"Thank you." smiled Rachel.

"What a gentleman!" Avery teased. "You guys keep each other company. I have something else to take care of", said Avery, and disappeared.

"Not very thrilled about parties, are you?" asked Ryan teasingly.

"Not at all. Especially when it involves putting up a fake smile."

"Haha.. On point." laughed Ryan. Ryan saw Rachel taking glances at Alfred and Stacy occasionally.

"They used to date each other sometime back. But nothing to worry about now", he tried reassuring her.

Rachel smiled slightly and took a sip of wine.

In a while, everyone started gathering in the middle of the hall. Alpha Albus, Alfred, and Avery were at the center of it. Alpha Albus started his toast,

"First of all, let's have a round of applause for everyone gathered here for this celebration." Everyone clapped enthusiastically.

"I am truly delighted to see my son reach another milestone in his life. I am very proud of his accomplishments at such a young age. I am sure he has a long way to go. But I expect all of my fellow pack members to support him and help him grow so that one day he will be your Alpha and do wonders for our pack."

Another round of applause and roar came from the crowd.

"Today is the day Alfred turns 25. He has a piece of wonderful news to share with you on this occasion. I won't keep you in suspense for long." He smiled and turned towards Alfred.

Alfred came forward and took over.

"Thank you father, for your kind words. I am grateful to be born as your son and to be given this opportunity to serve the Blue Moon pack." A round of applause again.

"Today I am excited to announce that I have found my mate."

Rachel almost lost the grip of her wine glass. She was stunned. What on earth is going on?

"Please welcome my beautiful mate and the future Luna of the pack..." Nervously, Rachel grabbed Ryan's wrist. It surprised him.

"Rachel Carter." And he turned towards Rachel where she was standing. All eyes followed him to the woman standing in the corner. She felt like suddenly the spotlight fell on her. Ryan shook off his wrist and placed his hand on her back and gave her a nudge.

Rachel stepped forward and slowly walked towards Alfred. Alfred smiled affectionately and held out his left hand to her. Rachel was confused.

Stop daydreaming and take my hand. Rachel heard Alfred's voice in her head. He was mind linking to her.

Rachel took his hand and stood by his left side.

A smile wouldn't hurt anyone.

She managed a fake smile somehow. There was some whispering initially, but it was taken over by huge applause. Alfred wrapped his left arm around her shoulders.

What is all this? She asked Alfred.

Just a tiny announcement.

You should have told me before. I was not prepared!

If I told you before, I would have missed that look on your face.

Impulsively, she turned her face and glared at Alfred.

What are you doing? People are watching.

To revive the situation, he kissed her on her cheek. "She is very shy." He said, looking at the people in front of him. They all started giggling and Rachel blushed. She wanted to kick him, but her heart told another story. It was pounding so loud that she thought others could hear it. She played along and greeted people who came over to congratulate them.

A few minutes after the announcement, two charismatic men approached them. Rachel had already met one of them. This guy again?

Albus immediately hugged the older man. Alfred too shook his hand and greeted him, "Alpha Jacob, good to see you. And you too, Jason." Alfred turned towards Rachel and said,

"Rachel, allow me to introduce you to the Alpha of the Silver Moon pack, Jacob Peters and his son Jason." Now I know where I heard that name before.

The Silver Moon pack was one of the five wolf packs in the country. They shared a border with the Blue Moon pack. For three generations, these two packs have been on friendly terms and often invited each other to their territories.

"Nice to meet you, Alpha Peters", she shook Alpha's hand.

"Same here child. You look lovely", he complimented her politely.

Rachel smiled gratefully and turned to Jason. "Nice to meet you again, Mr. Peter."

"Just Jason please." they shook hands and smiled at each other. He still had the curious look on his face. He had a playful vibe about him. Rachel thought that he must be a ladies' man.

"Are you two acquainted?" asked Alfred.

"Just ran into each other a while back", said Jason.

"I thought so. Hope you are enjoying the party."

"It's nice. And congratulations on finally finding your mate." Jason said gaily.

"Hope you find yours soon." Alfred reciprocated.

"Hope she is as adorable as Rachel. Cheers to Alfred and Rachel!" and they all clinked their glasses.
