Part 13 — The Alpha’s Heir

“The pregnancy rumor may not be a rumor after all.” The words shattered the room into silence. Elena stared at Selene in complete shock. “No.” Selene stepped farther inside calmly. “The mate bond is extremely powerful between both of you.” “That doesn’t mean I’m pregnant,” Elena argued immediately. But her voice lacked confidence now. Because deep down… Fear had already started growing inside her chest. Alessandro still held her carefully after catching her moments earlier. His silver-gray eyes remained locked on her face intensely. Too intensely. “Elena,” he said quietly, “when was the last time you felt normal?” The question hit harder than expected. She looked away immediately. The exhaustion. The dizziness. The sudden emotions. The strange pain. She thought it was stress. Now she wasn’t sure anymore. Selene noticed her silence. “That’s what I thought.” “No,” Elena whispered again. “This is impossible.” Dominic entered the room moments later after hearing the conversation. The moment Selene explained what happened, his expression became grim. “This is bad.” Elena looked at him sharply. “Why does everyone keep reacting like a baby is the end of the world?” Dominic answered honestly. “Because an Alpha heir changes everything.” Alessandro’s jaw tightened. “Enough.” But Dominic continued anyway. “If the Romanos discover she’s truly pregnant, they’ll never stop hunting her.” Fear spread heavily through the room again. Elena slowly stepped away from Alessandro this time. Her hands trembled slightly. “So now I’m in danger because of a baby that might not even exist?” “Yes,” Selene answered calmly. Wonderful. Just wonderful. Elena suddenly felt trapped. Every day her life became more dangerous. More complicated. More impossible. And somehow Alessandro remained at the center of all of it. She looked toward him again. Surprisingly… He didn’t look afraid. He looked protective. Possessive. Almost emotional. That frightened her too. “What are you thinking?” she asked quietly. Alessandro stayed silent for several seconds before answering. “If you’re carrying my child…” The roughness in his voice made her heartbeat quicken again. Then he finished quietly. “I’ll burn the world before I let anyone touch you.” The dangerous promise in his words filled the room heavily. Selene and Dominic exchanged worried looks immediately. Because they knew he meant it. Every word. Elena swallowed nervously. “You talk about violence way too casually.” Alessandro’s eyes softened slightly while looking at her. “That’s because you still see the good in me.” The honesty caught her off guard again. Before she could answer, Luca suddenly entered the room urgently. “Boss.” Alessandro immediately looked toward him. “What happened?” “We received a message from Romano.” The room instantly became tense. Luca handed Alessandro a black envelope carefully. Alessandro opened it slowly. Then his expression darkened dangerously. “What is it?” Elena asked nervously. Without answering, Alessandro handed her the paper. Elena’s breath caught immediately after reading it. Congratulations on the heir. Soon both mother and child will belong to us. Fear flooded her body instantly. “They know.” Selene cursed softly under her breath. “That was too fast.” Dominic looked serious. “The mansion is no longer safe.” “No,” Alessandro answered coldly. “She stays with me.” “This is bigger than your feelings now!” Rage flashed across Alessandro’s face instantly. “My feelings?” The room temperature seemed to drop immediately. Dominic realized his mistake too late. But it was already obvious to everyone. Alessandro loved her. And judging by the dangerous silence afterward… He knew it too. Elena’s chest tightened painfully. Love. The word terrified her. Because somehow… She was falling for him too. Even after seeing the monster inside him. Even after the violence. The blood. The darkness. She still wanted him. And that made her feel insane. Later that night, security around the mansion doubled again. More guards. More weapons. More fear. Elena sat quietly in her room while rain crashed against the windows outside. Her hand slowly rested against her stomach unconsciously. Pregnant. The thought still felt unreal. A soft knock interrupted her thoughts again. She already knew who it was. “Come in.” Alessandro entered quietly. Tonight he looked exhausted. More human than ever. For a moment, neither spoke. Then he walked toward her slowly. “You should sleep.” Elena laughed softly. “I don’t think I can.” Alessandro sat beside her carefully. The closeness immediately affected both of them again. The mate bond pulsed warmly between them. Strong. Comforting. Dangerous. “Elena.” She looked up slowly. “If this is real…” His voice lowered slightly. “You don’t have to be afraid.” Her eyes softened sadly. “How can I not be afraid?” Alessandro reached for her hand gently. “Because I’ll protect you.” “You can’t protect me from everything.” The painful truth settled heavily between them. Because enemies weren’t the only danger anymore. His wolf was still unstable. The claiming instinct kept growing stronger. And now there might be a child involved. Alessandro looked down briefly before speaking again. “There’s something I need to tell you.” Fear immediately returned. “What?” “The council will demand a formal claiming ceremony.” Elena blinked. “What exactly does that mean?” Alessandro’s expression became unreadable again. “It means publicly marking you as mine.” Heat rushed into her face instantly. “And if we refuse?” Silence. Then he answered quietly. “They’ll believe the bond is weak.” “And that’s bad?” “It makes you vulnerable.” Elena stood up immediately and walked away from him anxiously. “This whole world is insane.” “Yes.” “You keep saying yes like that helps!” Despite everything, Alessandro almost smiled again. Almost. Then his expression darkened once more. “Elena… there’s something else.” She turned slowly. “What now?” Alessandro hesitated. That alone terrified her. Finally, he answered. “If the pregnancy is real…” His silver eyes locked onto hers intensely. “My enemies won’t only target you anymore.” Elena’s chest tightened painfully. “They’ll target the baby.” Silence filled the room heavily. Then suddenly— A sharp pain hit Elena’s stomach again. Stronger this time. She gasped and grabbed the edge of the table. “Elena!” Alessandro reached her instantly. Fear flashed across his face immediately. The pain continued for several terrifying seconds before slowly fading again. Elena’s breathing became uneven. “What’s happening to me?” Before Alessandro could answer, Selene suddenly entered the room quickly. Her expression turned serious the moment she saw Elena. Then the woman whispered something that made Alessandro’s entire body go still. “The child is already reacting to the Alpha bond.” To be continued…
