CHAPTER 2

1227 Words
LIAM LOCKWOOD The School of Shadows is known for welcoming supernatural beings from all origins, and the books she dropped speak of a hidden world full of mysteries. A witch at the School of Shadows is indeed something extraordinary, but it also points to unique challenges and responsibilities. She quickly dries her eyes, and I notice that she seems very frustrated with something. She has long black hair, tan skin, and eyes as dark as the night, and something in her gaze captivates my attention. I also see that she has a habit of constantly adjusting her glasses on her face. "I need to go; I'm late for my next class!", she says, rushing past me, and I furrow my brow, seeing her in such a hurry. "Are you sure you're okay?", I ask, watching the girl turn her head to look at me and touch her glasses again. "Yes! I don't need help!", she says with an irritated expression before disappearing down a corridor. I keep looking at the other students around me, seeing that everyone is still looking at me. Furthermore, I adjust the backpack on my back before starting to walk as well. There are many hallways and rooms in this building, and I finally found my room after long minutes of searching. I thought the rooms should be shared with other students, but when I open the door, I see that I have my privacy now, and I really like that. I sigh before putting my backpack on the floor and looking at the entire space in front of me. Likewise, I closed my eyes for a few seconds, missing the forest. I love the forest, and being in that place is very liberating for me. I approach the window, looking at everyone walking around the school campus. Furthermore, I realize that this is my world now. I am no longer in my father's pack with the other wolves; I am with other supernatural beings, and my mother tells me that this will be very good for me. I need to learn to control my powers; being a hybrid means I need a lot of self-control. Not only that, but I have very strong powers like no one has seen before, and I need to be careful. I didn't want to be here, but I am also the Alpha's son, and this job will be mine one day, and I need to be prepared for everything. I turn my head, seeing a large mirror, and I blink my eyes, seeing my reflection. Wolf and vampire at the same time. I am two supernatural beings at the same time: I am immortal and can survive as a wolf or as a vampire. I really wanted to be a normal person, but that's not possible in my world. "I'll be fine, everything will be fine.", I whisper, looking at the big full moon in the sky. The night is calm at the School of Shadows, and I take the opportunity to organize my things in the new room. I arrange the few belongings I brought with me, but my attention is captured by the photo of my parents, placed with care near the bed. Looking at the image depicting a happy family moment, a sigh escapes my lips. The memories of the home and the family's warmth surround me, making the adaptation to the new reality even more challenging. Finally, exhausted from the change and the wave of emotions, I lie down on the bed and close my eyes. The School of Shadows is a new chapter, but memories of the past continue to echo in my thoughts. I sleep, hoping that the new day will bring a renewed sense of purpose. At dawn, the alarm echoes in the room, interrupting my sleep. I open my eyes, still half asleep, and sit on the bed. The reality of the new routine begins to manifest itself. The first day of classes at the School of Shadows is about to begin. I get up and start getting ready for the day. I grab the books I need for classes, organizing my backpack. The school is different from what I knew before. Leaving the room, I notice the bustle in the hallways. Many students are coming and going, each immersed in their own supernatural journey. The black uniform I wear camouflages me in the crowd, but my mind is still filled with thoughts of my parents and the home I left behind. I look ahead, seeing a group of girls looking at me and smiling before starting to whisper things about me. "He's the son of Jason Lockwood and Amelia Raven. His parents fought against vampires and won many years ago." "He's a hybrid; he's a wolf and a vampire. I think he can be very dangerous...", Students continue talking about me, and I try not to feel completely uncomfortable with it. Everyone knows about my parents' story and about me. The first class of the day is supernatural mythology, a discipline that promises to unravel the mysteries behind the creatures that populate the supernatural world. I try to focus on the class, absorbing the knowledge that will be crucial for my integration into the school. However, my mind occasionally wanders to memories of the family home and the stories told by my parents about the heroic deeds that brought them together and saved the supernatural world. After the first class, I head to the cafeteria. Hunger is a reminder of my wolf side; I could survive forever with just normal food, but I also need to drink blood sometimes to feed my vampire side. I chose an isolated table, allowing myself a moment of reflection while savoring the meal. The transition to this new environment will not be easy, but I am determined to find my place. After the school cafeteria, I head to the library. The enveloping silence of the place is a balm for the turmoil in my mind. I walk through the aisles of shelves filled with magical knowledge, seeking answers to my doubts and, perhaps, a way to feel more connected to the present. The library becomes a refuge, where I can get lost in the pages of magical books and temporarily forget the responsibilities weighing on my shoulders. The written words are like a magic of their own, transporting me to unknown worlds and offering a break from everyday concerns. I am sitting in the library, reading a book about wolves, when something unusual catches my attention. Mysterious sentences of magical spells float through the air, interrupting my focus on the wolves. Surprised, I turn my head to identify the origin of these magical sounds, and my eyes come across a fascinating scene. In the dimness of the library, there she is again, the mysterious girl from the night before. Her face is illuminated by the faint light, and she is immersed in a spellbook, each word whispered like a magical song. She seems determined, her eyes fixed on the words coming to life before her. I remain watching, completely enchanted by the scene before me. The witch girl seems to be diving into an intricate ritual, her hands dancing over the book as she utters ancient words. It seems like she's trying to invoke something extraordinary, something that transcends everyday understanding.
