CHAPTER 3: PREY– Alexa’s POV

The bathroom door came flying off its hinges and crashing in the main room where all the tables were, making a few customers scream and others jump from theirs seats. After a few seconds a monster appeared: the guy was half human - half wolf man, he had shifted only some parts of his body making him taller and freakishly scary.Holy s**t I had angered a werewolf.

He was growling lowly while looking around the room and as soon as he saw me near the bar counter, he growled deeper. He looked at me with pitch black eyes and drool from his wolf shaped mouth that showed big sharp teeth, or should I say fangs.

Everyone was watching him in pure silence and terror, not knowing what to do.

While keeping his eyes locked on me, he said in a very deep angry voice: “How dare you little piece of s***t! How dare you attack me!” and then with a horrible smirk manifesting on his face he continued “You pore little girl, now you’re going to see who you messed with!”. 

In that moment, everyone in the bar stood up and ran chaotically to the main entrance door, and with that, I ran to the nearest exit I could find: the kitchen bar doors. I ran as fast as I could through the kitchen, bumping into people and making dishes fall and exited through the backdoor and into the alley behind the bar. While I was catching my breath and trying to calm my racing heart, I saw the waiter that had previous brought our drinks, leaning against the wall smoking a cigarette. Before he was able to ask what was wrong, seeing me completely terrified and in distress, we heard someone shout from the kitchen: “You can’t run away from me your pathetic little girl, I can smell you...”. The waiter looked at me, handed me a pair of keys and said: “Take my car (pointing at a car parked not too far from us) and don’t ever, EVER, go near the Blood Moon Pack territories, go, now!” I grabbed the keys, ran to the car and while I was getting in, the building’s backdoor, where the waiter was, smashed open. My new nemesis saw me and while smiling a devious and terrifying smile at me he completely shifted into this enormous dark-brown wolf. I screamed, closed the car door, turned on the engine and drove off as quickly as possible. I had no idea where I was going or what I was supposed to do, the only thing I did was drive in the direction of home, which was opposite of the Blood Moon Pack. I was nearly home, when I decided to go to the police, so I drove to the nearest station, parked in front of it and ran through the doors. Everyone looked up at me and all I was able to say was “wolf!”, an officer came up to me and asked with a concerned face “Are you all right?” 

I started blurting words out and rambling on: “No, this massive werewolf attacked me while I was at the bar, he cornered me in the bathroom but I stopped him, he got p****d and then tried to kill me, he’s chasing me, I need help!”

Officer:” Ok ok calm down, sit down and tell me everything so I can fill out a report and contact the werewolf council.”

I replied confused:” The what now?”

The officer kindly replied:” The werewolf council, when I werewolf doesn’t follow the law on human territory they help the human police to take care of it”.

I had no idea, I would have probably been more curious about the subject if my heart wasn’t still racing out of my chest, so I simply nodded. The officer made me sit in a chair in front of his desk and started filling out a report as I tried to explain what had happened. 

He probably noticed how I was still looking around with terrified wide eyes because he kindly asked me if I wanted some tea. I nodded thinking that a hot drink would calm my nerves. He got up and left me still taking in my surroundings.

When I heard the main doors open, I looked over and saw three men with their noses in the air, sniffing. My heart stopped, and I felt all life drain from me, he had sent other men to find me. I threw myself on the floor and crawled to the nearest window which was thankfully already open. I jumped out landing on the ground with a loud thud sound, got up as quickly as possible and started running. I saw my block of flats, noticing behind it all the beautiful trees that were part of the Sunrise territory and that’s when an idea hit me. 

I ran in direction of the trees with all the energy I had left, I arrived at a wooden fence and started climbing over it. That’s when I looked behind me and from where I had arrived, I saw that three massive wolves were running towards me. I started to run again through the trees on the Sunrise territory hoping to find a house or something.

I quickly turned my head around while running, to check where the three wolves were, when I smashed into something, or to be correct someone. I fell backwards on the ground, looked up and simply pleaded “Help me” at the two people who were looking down at me with very confused looks. They didn’t have the time to do or say anything to me when the three wolves arrived on the scene growling. In a second, the man I had bumped into stepped in front of me and the woman with him shouted at them in a very authoritative manner: “You are on Sunrise territory, shift and tell us who you are and what you want or there will be consequences”.

The three wolves shifted back to their human form and three completely naked men arouse from the ground with very angry faces. One of them, with a scar on his face, took a step forward and said: “I am the Beta of the Blood moon clan and we simply want the girl to come with us”.

“Why?” asked the man in front of me and the man with the scar answered with a smirk: “She attacked our Alpha, there are consequences she has to pay for!” and growled looking down at me. At that point I got up from the round and shouted: “Liar! That monster you call Alpha was about to attacked me! He’s the one who should be facing consequences not me!”

All three men took a step forward growling at me and the couple in front of me growled back at them taking a step forward in their direction.

The man in front of me said: “You are on our territory, leave and our Alpha will contact your Alpha. Now go!” The three men looked at each other and turned around, but before leaving the one with the scar that had spoken before whispered at me: “We will be back for you, you can’t escape” and ran off with the others shifting back in their wolf form.

My heart was pounding and I felt dizzy, so I sat back down on the ground. The couple turned around, looked at me and then at themselves, they didn’t say anything. At some point, after I don’t know how long, the guy simply said: “Our alpha wants to talk to you, come with us”. I didn’t move because I wasn’t really listening… I kept thinking that I had defended myself from an Alpha, which meant that I had pi**ed off a very important, powerful and resourceful person, holy s***t! That’s when complete terror and panic came over me and breathing became difficult. The couple noticed but before they could help me, I fainted.
