CHAPTER 2: UNWANTED ATTENTION - Main character’s POV

I arrived at the bar twenty minutes later and was also able to park close to it. As soon as I stepped out of my car, I heard someone screaming my name on the top of their lungs “Alexa!” making me laugh as I locked the car. Without even looking, I knew that it could only be Alice, my very loud and extrovert best friend. I ran to her already giggling like a fifteen-year-old girl and embraced her in a big hug. When another pair of arms wrapped around us, I knew that they belonged to Carolina, our other best friend. We call ourselves the “Power Puff girls” because we are three best friends and look very similar to the cartoon too! Alice is a small woman, with blond hair, genuine light blue eyes, sweet as a flower, always smiling and talking. On the other hand, Carolina is tall like me, slender, with very intelligent green eyes, quiet with a very posed status and the listener. I have known them all my life, I met them in elementary school and we have been inseparably since then. Even if we went to different high schools and universities we always stayed in touch, when possible we met up and it would feel like no time had gone by. They are my non blood sisters.   After laughing and giggling like 15-year-olds outside the bar, we went in and sat at our reserved table and before Alice was able to speak, our waiter arrived to take our orders. Whilst the girls went wild and ordered two cocktails and a few shots, I ordered a sour-sweet nonalcoholic drink, specifying I wanted it in a fancy glass with an umbrella in it. I mean, it’s without alcohol but I still wanted it to look fancy! That earned me a confused and rather annoyed look from the waiter, who wrote in down on his pad and went away.   Alice looked at me and asked me smiling: “So? How is your new job going? Do you still like it?”. To that I quickly answered: “Yes I still do! Quite tiring but I think I am finally getting the hang of it! How about you?” Alice rolled her eyes and replied: “Don’t get me started, this new guy was hired last week and I swear he thinks he’s like our savior ready to help us all, it’s so annoying because he is so condescending! My blood boils every time he talks down at me!” Carolina interrupted her: “At least people talk to you! Everyone in my office thinks I’m a werewolf and avoids me! I mean, I am human, but even if I wasn’t who cares! What’s the big deal?” Alice mirrored my confused look and said: “I’m so sorry! How did that happen? I mean, you’re not the chattiest of people but I think it’s quite a leap to jump to “werewolf” strait away.” Carolina answered angrily: “It’s that b***h’s fault! Suzy! I hate her! She saw me talking, or should I say flirting, with this guy Tom I like at work and out of pure jealousy, she started spreading the word that I was a werewolf… and obviously now Tom isn’t speaking to me because a few years ago he had a bad experience with a werewolf in a bar and he’s now intimidated…”. “Coward” Alice mumbled. I felt so sorry for her, so I took her hand and squeezed it, letting her now that we were there for her. She squeezed it back and smiled at me.    In that moment the waiter arrived with our drinks and I was very pleased to see that my cocktail was really cool! It was in a funky cocktail glass with a pink umbrella and an orange straw. I looked up and smiled widely at the waiter and said: “Thank you, it’s exactly what I needed!”. He nodded at me and while leaving I’m sure he smiled. After what seemed like only 10 min, but actually was an hour and a half, the waiter came back with other drinks that we hadn’t ordered. “This is from the gentlemen at the table” he said placing them down. “Uuuu, that’s nice! Thank you” Alice said smiling warmly at the waiter.  I looked at the guy, who had offered us the drinks, he was sitting in a corner table and as he smiled at us a chill when down my spine. “Creep” I muttered. “Be nice” Alice laughed at me. I didn’t drink the offered cocktail for two reasons: I didn’t want alcohol and I didn’t like the dude.  The evening went on nicely and at some point, me and Alice headed to the bathroom. As I was washing my hands, Alice whined: “Oh no, I forgot my bag at the table, do you have a tampon?”  “Sorry sweetie, I don’t” I said. “Ok I’ll be right back.” She said as she dashed out, making me chuckle. I turned around to dry my hands and heard the door open again and began to say “Wow, that was quick…” “You didn’t like the drink I sent you my dear?” I heard a creepy voice say behind me. I turned around and saw the man who had offered us the drinks standing in front of me, too close for my liking. He was tall and built and something about him emanated power and the way he stood made me think he was full of himself, like he knew the effect he had on other people. I could see the physical appeal about this man, but to me only bad vibes were coming off of him. “This is the woman’s bathroom. I think you should leave.” I said trying to stay calm and thinking of possible exit strategies.  He inched closer chuckling as I instantly backed away from him against the wall. He was blocking my exit as the door was behind him, so I needed to move slightly out of the way. “You haven’t answered my question yet.” He stated, looking at me with a sleigh smile that I really didn’t like. “I’m not drinking alcohol tonight. Thanks for the kind gesture but I have get going now.” I said trying to steady my voice and trying to slide pass him. He gripped my arm tightly with on hand and my waist with the other and pushed me against the wall behind me: “I don’t like being ignored…” he said breathing heavily while his eyes started to change color. “and I don’t like being touched by unwanted people” I replied angrily trying to free myself from tight grip. Alice opened the door singing happily “I’m back!” and stopped half way through the door in shock. This made the creepy dude turn his head giving me the perfect moment to knee him as hard as I could in the balls. He let go of me and I quickly grabbed Alice by the arm and dragged her out of the bathroom. As soon as we were out, I pushed her behind the bar counter telling her to stay down, while the bartender who was there making some drinks said “Hey! what are…”. He wasn’t able to finish because all hell broke loose.
