The leader stared at the ground for a second, a dark, calculating look crossing his eyes as he shook his head back and forth. "No, on second thought, I don't think it's a good idea for us to leave this little maid girl behind," he muttered, turning his masked face back toward the glass doors of the restaurant. "She saw everything. The moment we drive away from here, she could easily run straight back to the mansion and tell everyone in the pack that her mistress is completely missing. And we absolutely do not want to cause a massive commotion right now. We still have to wait for the main boss to come first before we can officially leave this area." A heavy jolt of pure panic hit my chest, and I immediately started shouting at the top of my lungs, my voice cracking with desperation. "No! No, please! She doesn't know a single thing about any of this! I am the only one you men actually want! You can take me with you right now and do whatever you want, just please leave her completely out of this!" The leader hesitated for a brief moment, tilting his head to the side as if he were actually weighing my words. But then, his cold eyes narrowed behind his mask, and he swung the long barrel of his weapon around, pointing the dark gun straight at the glass doors where Ella was hiding. "Hey, you! Get out here!" Seeing the weapon aimed at my terrified friend, a sudden rush of wild adrenaline took over my body. Without thinking about the consequences, I balled my hand into a tight fist and swung it with all my might, hitting the leader right across the face. The blow caught him completely off guard, making him stumble back a step. I spun around on my heel, my heart hammering against my ribs as I prepared to run back into the building, but I didn't even make it two steps. The first muscular guy reacted with terrifying, supernatural speed. He lunged forward, wrapping his thick, heavy arms securely around my chest and pinning my hands to my sides. With a brutal shove, he pressed me face-first down to the hard gravel ground, knocking the air straight out of my lungs. Before I could even twist my body to struggle, he placed his heavy combat boot directly onto the side of my head, crushing my cheek against the dirt to keep me completely pinned down. "Listen to me carefully, princess," the man growled from above me, his heavy boot pressing down just enough to cause a dull ache in my skull. "I really don't want to have to go hard on you or break any of your bones, because we have been strictly told by the higher-ups to not hurt a single hair on your head. So do yourself a massive favor and just stay completely calm until we go meet her." Tears of frustration and pain mixed with the dirt on my face, and I shouted into the gravel as loud as I could. "What on earth does this person want from me?! I don't even know anyone in this city! I haven't done anything to any of you!" The man let out a dry, mocking chuckle, shifting his weight slightly. "Don't worry, you will find out the answer to that question soon enough." The second masked guy stepped over my trapped body, continuing to speak in a flat, businesslike tone as he waved his weapon toward the restaurant entrance. "You are coming with us whether you like it or not, girl. We don't want you or anyone else jeopardizing the safety of this mission." I kept shouting, "No! Please, no!" my voice raw and breaking as I watched Ella slowly walk out of the shattered glass doors. Her small hands were raised high up in the empty air, her entire body shaking like a leaf in the wind as tears streamed down her pale cheeks. The leader pointed his gun toward the open side door of the large van, gesturing with his head. "Get in the back." Ella swallowed hard, her legs trembling violently as she climbed up the metal step and entered the dark vehicle. Once she was inside, the guards violently hauled me off the dirty ground and shoved me into the back of the transport van right behind her. They made both of us sit together on a long bench. The interior of the car was incredibly big and gloomy, with two rows of worn leather seats directly facing each other. Me and Ella sat closely together, her small hand immediately finding mine and squeezing it with an iron grip for comfort. The moment the heavy sliding door slammed shut, cutting off the afternoon light, the two muscular men sat down on the bench directly opposite us. They lifted their heavy black guns, pointing the dark barrels straight at our chests to make absolutely sure we didn't try any stupid escape attempts while the vehicle started moving. The silence inside the moving van was suffocating, and the anger inside my chest began to boil over the fear. I fixed my eyes on the two men, my jaw clenching as I forced myself to speak. "Why on earth are you doing this to us?" I demanded, my voice dripping with pure disgust. "Do you both have absolutely no conscience left inside your bodies? Do you even have real lives? You both are just completely useless, pathetic criminals, doing literally anything dirty just for a little bit of extra money. You are so desperate that you are willing to sell your own souls and your innocence for a quick paycheck." The guards didn't even blink, keeping their blank stares fixed on my face. "I know the only reason you are doing this is because you were heavily paid by a contractor," I continued, leaning forward slightly despite the weapons pointed at my chest. "But I am the one that Gaby Stefan actually wants! He knows absolutely nothing about this innocent maid girl. Just let her open the door and jump out right now, and I promise you with my life that I will never fight back against you. I will fully concord with you, I will cooperate, and I will do every single thing you ask of me without a complaint. I will even tell her to go back and never come find me. Just please, let the innocent girl go right now." The guard on the right blinked in genuine confusion, his eyebrows raising high above his dark mask as a surprised expression washed over his face. He lowered his weapon just a fraction of an inch, staring at me as if I had just spoken a completely foreign language. "What on earth are you talking about, girl?" He exchanged a quick, puzzled glance with his partner before looking back at me, a cold, dark smirk forming beneath his mask. "I have definitely heard that name Stefan before in our line of work, but I have never actually met the man in person. He didn't send us to kidnap you. The person who hired us is someone much, much worse."
