The door creaked and the second nurse walked in with a heavy wooden basket. It was filled with bright red apples that smelled sweet. "Hello Luna," she said while she put the basket on the table. "My condolences. I brought you some apples to eat so you feel better." The first nurse turned around and her face went bright red like she was going to explode. "Condolences?? Is she dead? Do you want the Devil’s Luna to be dead right now?" She sounded very angry. "I am so sorry Luna! She is just stupid!" The second nurse put her hands on her chest and her eyes went wide. "I... I didn't mean that! I meant... your convenience! Like... be convenient with me. No... like be comfort. Oh god what am I even saying?" She looked like she wanted to hide under the bed. The first nurse started laughing and shaking her head. "Oh you never cease to be foolish. I knew you would always disgrace me wherever we go in this pack. I felt bad for you so I let you work with me. But you couldn't even hide your foolishness in front of the She Devil." The second nurse started laughing even more. She tried to close her mouth with her hand to stop the noise. "You see? That is why I like you so much. No matter how foolish I am today... you are always much worse than me!.what the hell does she devil mean you mean like a female devil with horns?? I just sat there on the bed and stared at them. I found myself smiling a little bit. How did I end up with these two people? They are even more unserious than I am. They look cool and nice but I know they won't ever take Ava’s place in my life. Oh... that is right. I haven't even thought about Ava lately. Or Mary too. I felt a bit sad. Maybe I should just lie down and go back to sleep. Problems are waiting for me like a monster under the bed. I raised my hands up and they both went quiet immediately. "That is enough! Both of you!" I tried to look mean like Damon. "You are going to help me get dressed. Then you will show me around this place. After that... I will go see the She Devil myself." I noticed they were biting their lips to hold in their laughter. They gave each other a secret look with their eyes. I nodded my head. So I am the She Devil now? That is fine. Whatever. "Help me get up." They helped me pull on some clean clothes. They even tried to put some makeup on my face but it looked light and bad. I looked at myself in the mirror and my jaw dropped. "What is this? Why do I look like a clown?" The first nurse looked confused. "Sorry Luna... but I only know how to give drugs and needles. I don't know how to paint faces." "Should we clean it off?" the second one asked. "No leave it," I said. "Let’s just go." They helped me stand up but I could not walk well. My legs felt like they were made of water. I stretched my hands out sideways. Both nurses put their necks under my arms so I could lean on them. We walked like a weird three-legged animal out the door. We got outside and my eyes went wide. "Wow... this place is basically a market!" I looked at all the shops and people shouting. "Are there no fighters here? Where are the warriors?" "No Luna," the nurse whispered while we walked past a fruit stand. "We don't have much warriors in the North. This place is mainly for market and trading. People come here to buy things." We stopped at a small shop that was selling hot scrambled eggs. The smell was so good my stomach made a loud noise. I told them to stop right there. I raised my head to look at the man cooking the eggs. "Let’s have some scrambled eggs please. I am starving." The man stopped moving his spoon. His face darkened and he looked at me like he had seen a ghost coming out of a grave. I looked at his eyes and I felt a weird chill. I knew this voice from somewhere in my past. "You must be Amanda I guess," the man said. He wiped his hands on a dirty cloth and stepped closer to the counter. "I knew your mother very well. she always came here, you have the same exact voice and face as her, though a bit younger, you must be Amanda I guess. I felt the ground shake under my feet. My mother? How did a cook in a market know my mother?
