Orion nodded and walked to his truck. Before getting inside, he waved at me. “See you later.”
I waved back and stayed there, watching until his truck disappeared down the road. I did not go back inside until I could no longer see the taillights.
The rest of the afternoon and evening felt strange and blurry to me. Kael kept talking about everything he and Orion had done together, but my mind was somewhere else, so I barely paid attention. Even while making dinner and eating with Kael, I kept thinking about old memories and feelings I had buried a long time ago.
