Hannes’s pov Something is wrong. My wolf kept shifting against my skin, it was trying to communicate with me but I refused to listen. I am the alpha and what I have done is for the purpose of my people nothing more. Ailsa had taken enough from me, from everyone. She deserves the punishment. I have waited enough, even if she couldn't bear The Moonmarked Trinity, I could still take her if she gave me just one heir…just one but she had to be infertile. I straightened my back, trying to focus on the meeting. I have rejected her and it is for the purpose of the Pack, I tell myself. “Alpha, considering the issue about the border forest that is between us and the Ashenridge pack. Their Alpha has refused to listen or talk to us and we need more land to…” An elder said but my aunt cuts him off. “Then we fight them, we take them to…” My aunt said, Her tone is firm and I know she is ready to do anything but war between two powerful packs is not what is needed. “Aunty” I called, “War is not what we need, right now. I will find a way to talk to the Alpha of the Ashenridge and then we will reach an agreement” I said, explaining to her. My aunt didn't say anything, just sat back, “I agree with you, Alpha. Going to war in this time isn’t what we need” The Elder who had spoken before said, before returning to his seat. My gaze shifted to my aunt, she is clearly angry but I know she will soon cool off. “If that's all, then we should let this meeting end” I said, how about standing but a voice stopped me. “You have to take another Luna, Alpha” The voice said, I turned and my gaze landed on the owner. Elder Edric, one of the influential elders. He used to be my father's beta. “That's not an issue” I said to him, I met his gaze. “Alpha, I only want you to know you have to choose one soon, at least from one of our young eligible she wolf” He smiled and I know what he is implying. “I am sure she will be the destined one to conceive The Moonmarked Trinity, if she is of Noble,” he added. His daughter. I turned to my aunt, she was nodding. Does she agree to this? I can't just choose another woman after rejecting one. I need time, but first I need to see Alisa…. “I will come to a decision and let the council know” I tell them, standing up instantly. I didn't wait to hear more of their rants before walking out of the hall. As I walked across the hall to the entrance, the memory of Ailsa being taken out of the hall flashed in my head but I shook it off, but the feeling of a hand crushing my heart did not leave me. “Alpha,” I heard my Beta called, Kwan. I didn't turn to him, I know he disagreed with my decision to reject Ailsa but he didn't say a word. “I need you to sign the documents…” “Beta,” I heard my aunt cut off Kwan, “He just finished with a meeting, don't rush him with work” Her smoothing voice added. I turned to both of them, Kwan bowed slightly. “The matter…” “Kwan, I will call for you.” I said to my Beta, He glanced at my aunt, dissatisfied. He nodded and turned to leave. “I am happy, you have finally made the right decision.” My aunt said, talking about the rejection. “Ailsa didn't deserve you” My aunt continued holding onto my arms as we made our way to my study. I remained silent. “You need a more noble blood to conceive The Moonmarked Trinity…,” A feeling washed through me at the mention of Ailsa and The Moonmarked Trinity “Aunt, I don't want to talk about her” I stated. The way she had looked at me, begging…for me not to banish her… “Right, right” My aunt smiled, we walked into my study and Kwan was already waiting there. My aunt sat down, ignoring his presence. I settled behind my desk. One thing about Kwan is very stubborn and won't stop when it comes to the welfare of the pack members. “Here is the document,” he said as he pushed a file in front of me. “I heard that Rogues are coming into our territory without a proper check,” Kwan reported. I nodded as I grabbed a pen and signed the documents after reading, “Hm,” I let out. “I have men searching for them,” Kwan said. I closed the documents. “Make sure there are enough men on patrol too,” I said and Kwan nodded. The door pushed open without a knock and a young woman entered, “Alpha…” she called, “Such disrespect! Why did you barge in here?” My aunt questioned the woman “I apologized, Alpha but Luna…” The woman started to explain but my aunt cut her off. “She is no Luna!” My aunt yelled, cutting the woman's word to a stop. The woman cowered in fear. “I…I apologized, Ailsa…she is missing. Some of her clothes too. She…disappeared,” The woman said. I frowned standing up, “Have you searched the entire pack house?!” I questioned and the woman nodded. “Use your words!” I yelled and anger surged through me. “Yes, Alpha,” the woman answered with a shaking voice. Where did she go? She doesn't have a place to go, she can't just leave. She was begging… “Search the entire pack house and every other place again” I ordered. The woman moved sluggishly. “Now!” I screamed, sending her out. “You shouldn't be worried about her, Hannes. She would leave eventually, she probably has a plan to escape” My aunt said, unbothered. ‘Something is not right’ My wolf said to me, shifting under my skin. Ailsa doesn't have anyone and she had depended on me all her life, she can't just leave like that. Kwan stood in his place quietly, he didn't say a word and I knew when he was silent and didn't take a seat. He is annoyed by something. But I didn't ask, my leg hit the floor repeatedly as I waited patiently for an answer then like what felt like a day. The same woman returned with a crumbled envelope and pill bottle. “We didn't find her but here's what we found” The woman placed the items before stepping back. “That is a contraceptive pill,” my aunt said, pointing to the bottle and I frowned, I opened the envelope, still not bothered by the pills and read it. Then I saw her name, it is a pregnancy result. She is three weeks pregnant and I haven't touched her in a long time. “How can she be pregnant?” I asked, “What?” My aunt exclaimed, she stood up and snatched the results from me. “No that's not possible, that girl is barren. Have you touched her in the last three weeks?” I shook my head. Three weeks ago I remembered that she left my room early in the morning but I didn't think anything would happen. “No, I haven't touched her in a long time,” I said. “That b*tch, she is definitely cheating on you” my aunt said, “She must have intentionally prevented your own babies coming into this world to have her lover’s child. She is so scheming” my aunt ranted. My eyes fell on the half used bottle of contraceptive, anger, betrayal rushed through me. How can she do this to me? My hands clenched into fists, I held in my anger, my chest tightened. Kwan stepped forward, “if you are going to say something to defend her don’t!” I gritted out. “A pack member said that he spotted a woman that looks like Ailsa and a man on the outskirts” Kwan said, a bitter laugh tore through me. Who thought innocent Ailsa would be capable of doing all this?. She was begging earlier was all that an act and all fake. She played me well. She cheats under my nose for years and I didn't know until today even killed my babies before they were born. “Find her and make sure you bring her and her lover to me” She can't f*****g disappear after killing my babies. When I find her and my lover, I would make sure she regrets doing this to me. I clench my fist.
