Hannes' pov
Five years later…
“Do you think Linus would talk to you?” Kwan asked, he folded his clothes too and placed under the tree then stood beside.
“He is hosting the Annual grand assembly, I should be able to,” I answered.
It has been five years of endless searching for Ailsa, she had just disappeared into thin air and been ignored by Linus Valeris the Alpha of the Ashenridge pack no matter how I tried to contact him, it just failed.
“I hope so, Now that we are in his pack for the Annual grand assembly. We will be able to find a way to speak with him no matter what” Kwan said, “Now let go for a run in Ashenridge’s woods” Kwan patted my back as he started shifting.
Bones cracking and groaning filled the air as we transformed into a full wolf, ‘Are you ready?’ I asked him through mindlink and he replied through body language letting me know he is ready.
‘Now’ I said and then we both bolted into the woods, I jumped a fallen tree and paws dug into the earth.
A sweet familiar scent waltz into my nose making me freeze. I glanced around to see who it was but I didn't find anyone.
Kwan returned to me when he noticed I am no longer running, ‘Are you alright, Alpha?’ He mindlinked me.
‘Yes, I am. I thought I smelled someone that I know but it is nothing’ I responded, just then the scent got heavier and a golden brown wolf walked in between trees…it reminded me of her…
It stopped when it saw us, its eyes settled on us. It didn't react or show any body language and just turned to leave.
The brown wolf somehow felt familiar but I couldn't place a name, only that familiar scent.
‘Shall we continue with the run?’ Kwan asked,
‘No, it is about time for the Assembly’ I told him, he agreed and we returned to Ashenridge's large pack house.

“You look good, dear” My aunt complimented my mate, she was holding onto my left arm while My Luna, Ida was holding onto my right hand.
We walked into the large venue where the Ashenridge held their parties, “Wow these decorations are amazing” Ida spoke, a hand on her protruding stomach.
I smiled, kissing her hand. “We will have a bigger hall and beautiful decorations when you give birth to an heir…,” I said softly.
Ida smiled. “When I gave birth to The Moonmarked Trinity,” she corrected.
“Whether you give birth to The Moonmarked Trinity or just one, I would cherish both of you,” I assured her.
“I want to impress you, that is why I refuse a scan,” she said softly.
“You don't need to,” I kissed her forehead, my hand tightening around her waist.
Then that familiar scent in the woods lingered in the air, subtle but noticeable.
I led Ida to a table and glanced around the place then seated down, I exchanged greetings with some Alpha's too .
Waiting for Linus Valeris to appear, “Don't worry dear, you will get him to talk to you and he would want to work with us” My aunt said with a reassuring smile, patting my shoulder.
Alpha Linus soon arrived, his entrance was announced to everyone. I watched as the alpha walked onto the platform to give a speech.
I waited patiently until the Alpha was done and as soon as he climbed down the platform, I stepped into his front. “Alpha Linus” I called, with a smile. The man looked at me, like he knew me. “I am Hannes, the alpha of the Redpine pack, we share a border…”
Then I saw anger flashed in his eyes for a second then he quickly hid his emotions, His jaw clenched. “Welcome to Ashenridge pack,” he said, his voice cold. He brushed past me.
Why is he acting like we had some kind of feud, I just need him to give me half of the border land to my people.
But I wasn't anywhere giving up.My people really need access to part of that land. “Alpha Linus, I want to talk about the border land if we can…”
“Alpha Hannes, this is not where to discuss such matters and the border land does belong to my pack” Linus said, I could hear the resentment and anger in his tone. He doesn't like me that much.
“I know that but we had a treaty…” I started, trying to explain but the man again cut me off.
Is he doing this on purpose?
Trying to humiliate me?
Anger washed through me but I held it together. Kwan had said whatever I do today will determine our relationship with the Ashenridge pack.
“I know about the treaty but you have to speak to my Gamma first” Alpha Linus said, his tone isn't as rude as the first one.
“Alright, Alpha Linus. I will speak to your Gamma, I hope we work together in the future” I tell him, putting my hand forward for a handshake, he takes it.
He nodded, “I would have made an introduction but the Gamma is busy” he said and I smiled, there is no need for an introduction I will find his Gamma myself, that is a step to success.
I returned to the table and the familiar scent is no longer subtle in the air, it has more presence.
Somehow it left my wolf unsettled.
“How was it?” Ida asked with a smile, Kwan was already at the table too.
“Great,” I responded, turning to Kwan. “He wants me to talk to his Gamma first,” I tell my Beta.
“That's great that we will get a chance,” Kwan said.
“I heard the Gamma is a female,” Ida said, “They had a lot of vast land and borders. Why would he make a woman his Gamma? She has to be fierce and strong if she is the Gamma of this pack” Ida added.
A woman.
Then it should be easy to find out who the Gemma is.
The strong sweet scent clouded my mind and I couldn't help but walk towards the direction where the scent was coming from.
Ida and Kwan called at me but I had to look for the owner to get the scent.
I stopped when I saw my aunt talking to a woman who had her back to me. My aunt was hurling insults at the woman.
“Sh*t” I cursed as I rushed towards my aunt, trying to stop her. I brushed past the woman and goosebumps raised all over my body. This woman is the owner of scents “Aunt stop it you can't do this here” I tell my aunt as I hold onto her hand.
“I am so sorry, miss…” I looked at the person and the word hung in my throat and instead it was replaced by anger.
“Alisa?”
How the hell is she here?
