As Lee pulls into Jordan’s driveway he feels a sense of calm. It’s been years since he’s been home and for good reason. When he left 5 years ago he had nothing to hold him to home. Both parents deceased, no other family besides the Hills. Lee loved his adopted family, Jordan Hill is his best friend since they were young about 4 years old if I remember correctly. Mr. and Mrs. Hill treated Lee like one of their own. They cared more for Lee while he was growing up then his own parents. Not to forget little Sophia, Jordan’s younger sister. It was cute how she would follow us around every where. I had just met Jordan when Sophia was a baby. I haven’t thought of her in ages, Lee pondered wonder what she’s up too. Last time I saw her I had just returned from my tour overseas. Mr. and Mrs. Hill threw me a welcome home party. It was originally a going away party for Sophia, she just graduated high school and was off to school for her photography. But when they found out I was finally released from the hospital and on my way home they included me. It was very sweet of Sophia to be willing to share her party with me. I’m never big on attention being on me but how could I tell these people no. The Hill’s were so upset when I took the job with Keller Group and left but they knew I couldn’t stay in Virginia. I had to leave, it’s why I joined the Navy in the first place. Growing up Lee never imagined he’d end up being a hitman for hire but that’s the cards he was dealt. After serving his country and coming home with a honorable discharge due to injury he didn’t have many options. Lee just so happened to be right place right time when the Keller Group came looking for ex-soldiers. That first job opened up a door to the life Lee has now. After a few years at the Keller Group Lee got to become more of a freelance hitman. Making himself available when he wants and only taking the jobs he was okay working. Yeah he still had to report to someone but more or less he was on his own. Lee gets out of the car and heads up to Jordan’s front door. As much as he just wants to go straight up to the guest house and crash, he does miss his friend. Jordan opens the door and grabs Lee’s bag from him. “Oh, man it’s been to long since you’ve been home “ Jordan tells him as he hugs his friend. Lee laughs knowing he just saw Jordan a few months back when Jordan came out to visit him in Tennessee. “Bro., I just saw you not even 2 months ago relax. You act as if it’s been years not months.” Lee says through winced pain and Jordan don’t realize how hard he is squeezing him. “ Yeah 2 months ago when I was picking you up from the airport with a busted ass body. I don’t hear from you in months and all of the sudden I get a voicemail Hey Jordan sorry it took so long to get back to you, can you pick me up from the airport I’m not supposed to drive right now. Thanks man Lee didn’t mention to Jordan that he had been hurt on his last job nor was he planning on it knowing damn well he’d freak out. Last time Jordan didn’t handle it very well at all. Jordan don’t let him live it down, though Lee’s explained over and over again that had nothing to do with work. It was more a freak motorcycle accident late at night on a wet road. He didn’t need to hear Jordan’s conspiracy theory’s he had enough going around in his own head. Another reason to come home, either someone on his team was out to get him or someone was out to get his whole team. While here Lee was going to get answers . I’m not letting this job be the death of me. I’ll quit first before I leave mom and pop Hill to bury a kid. Lee knows that Jordan however will never except that answer. Lee knows he wishes his friend would just come home for good and take his offer at a job at his company. Not that Lee hasn’t considered it, it’s a good offer and not a bad life. Lee just knows he’s not a settle down kinda guy. He’s more or less happy with his life the way it is.
