To my utmost surprise, the wolf turned and left. I never got to see who it really was and it didn't make any attempt to kill me.
I crawled to Lucas's dead body and took the picture he had shown me. Lucas is the second person this particular angry wolf has killed in a short while.
On my way to Principal Harriet's office, I met the captain of the army. I was terrified and obviously shaking. Then I spoke to him about what had just happened. He immediately gathered the wolf army to go into the woods.
I hurried back to my room.
Mum and Dad called.
"Hello, my little black cloud, Dad spoke the moment I picked up. but they are definitely the last people I wish to speak with right now
"So tell us darling, how was your first week? Mum asked.
"Let's see, I narrowly escaped death twice, discovered that my Father may be a murderer, learned I could potentially destroy the school, and was saved mysteriously by a homicidal werewolf, probably a rogue.
As much as it pains me to admit, you were right mother. I think I would love it here… I replied and they gave me a displeasing look.
The next morning, I went to Principal Harriet's office to let her know about the incident but it seemed she'd been informed already. I found Mr Johnson, the captain of black moon army in the principal's office
Maya, we found nothing in the woods…
"How can you possibly miss a dead body? I asked, surprised
"Because it wasn't there, no footprints, no blood. My search party looked all night…
"Well, your search party must have forgotten their eyes or probably their sense of smell at home. I saw that wolf kill Lucas in front of me…
Maybe it was one of your classmates?
Johnson, I find that question offensive principal Harriet snapped immediately.
So you automatically assume an Oakcrest student is the murderer even though there is no evidence the crime was committed. She said angrily
"I'm sorry I forgot you teach only the good outcast here, right?
Well, my guess is Lucas ran away. I have contacted his family but they haven't heard from him either Principal Harriet said defensively.
"Dead people are notoriously bad at returning calls," I snapped.
What were you doing in the woods alone with Lucas? Johnson asked me and the question blew my mind up
I honestly wanted to leave this school. I don't want to be here. I was running off when I barged into him. The next thing the wolf came out from nowhere and killed Lucas, then I ran for help.
"At that point I was shaking. I tried not to say all that had happened in the woods.
I've got my eyes on you Maya and the next time u are caught u will be expelled. The principal said to me I think we are done here. Thank you, Mr Johnson.
Maya you may leave now.
"Actually I would like to speak with Mr Johnson alone.
I'm afraid that will not be possible, Harriet responded.
Well, what is possible is that I could lock down this school until this matter has been investigated, Mr Johnson said.
Fine, you have 5 minutes, she said and left her office…
Someone is trying to cover up Lucas's murder. That's the only reason to scrub the crime scene
"oh is that your professional opinion as the daughter of a murderer? Johnson said to me
"You want to reject my claims but you can't because you and I both know there is a werewolf out there who's been killing people mercilessly and Lucas is his latest victim. Unfortunately, that werewolf refused to show himself.
"You don't have anything important to say to me, do you?
I will take my leave now he said.
I went into my room confused, kept walking to and fro the room hoping I hadn't lost my mind.
"my life has become a twisted mystery. It's time to lean into it
"King Gray has to pay for what he did to me, but I've been caged inside this educational penitentiary. How do I find him? And now this? I couldn't stop muttering to myself, holding the picture which I had taken from Lucas. What does Lucas mean when he said I was going to be responsible for destroying the school? I need to find out the truth…
Suddenly, my room door flipped open and Eleanor walked in
"Hey, Rommie, Eleanor called out.
"You are Oakcrest gossip queen Eleanor. What's Lucas's story? I asked her hoping to get a piece of tangible information.
"Other than being a weird loner… Uh… Theodor is his roommate, you could just ask him.
"I immediately turned and left the room, headed to look for Theodore.
I watched him have fun shooting a bow and arrow in the courtyard facing Principal Harriet's office.
I walked up to him staring,
"Hi, Theodore.
Hey, would you like to shoot an arrow? Theodore asked.
Only on life target, I answered
"hmmm.. Okay.
"When was the last time you saw your roommate, Lucas?
You mean the one that was killed by a rouge? Theodore asked with a raised brow, and I nodded.
In the last class with Matish, I haven't talked to him after that. Lucas's always been a little off but the last couple of weeks he has been more erratic, he said.
What could he be bothered about? I asked curiously.
I have no idea…
There will be a competition tomorrow. Would you be there?
"Yeah, actually I would be among the competitors.
Okay, see you there then he said and left, he seemed to be avoiding something.
The next day at the river bank where the competition was to take place it was a bright morning. Everyone had gathered to witness the best among the competitors, but there were no rules in the game.
"I want to welcome ya"all to the River Gladiator Competition, as you know, this is one of Oakcrest's proudest annual traditions.
Each team must saddle across to Crescent Island, pull a flag from Logan's crypt, and hustle back without sinking or being sunk…

Principal Harriet conducted and immediately we began the race, paddling our boat to cross to Logan's crypt.
My team and I got there third, and I grabbed the flag from Logan's crypt, but suddenly, after I touched the flag, I fell to the ground and was summoned by the moon goddess to the spiritual realm. There were flashes of light that hindered me from seeing clearly. I heard the voice of the moon goddess.
