ONE DAY at school in the first class, Madam Bharali, the class teacher of Emon’s class, as usual took the roll-calls. After taking the roll-calls, she closed the roll-call register and said: “The inter-class singing competition will be held next week. The Principal will announce about it in the assembly tomorrow or the day after. So I want you all to select a suitable song and start rehersals from tomorrow.”
Madam Bharali paused and looked around at the boys. Then she continued: “I want the captain and the vice-captain to take the responsibility of conducting the rehersals. If I can be of any help, let me know.”
The captain and the vice-captain got up from their desks and said: “Yes Madam,” and sat again.
