AFTER Emon’s school opened after the Durga Puja vacation, Mr Barman, the sport teacher of the school, took away the footballs from the class-rooms. In place of the footballs, he gave to each class: a cricket bat, four stumps and a cricket ball. After that, cricket replaced football in the school playground.
On the Sunday after his school opened, after morning tea, Emon was teaching the parrot to talk in the back veranda of his house. Then Puja came to the veranda by the kitchen door and said: “Emon, Rajesh has come.”
“Where is he?” Emon asked.
“In the front veranda,” Puja said and went back into the house.
