EMON’S school closed for Diwali and Kali Puja. On the morning of Diwali, Mrs Barua was dusting the furniture of the drawing-room of her house. Then Emon came along with Puja to the drawing-room and said: “Maa, we want some money to buy crackers.”
“Go and ask Dewta,” Mrs Barua said.
“Oh!” Emon said. “Puja, you go and ask.”
“Aatchaa,” Puja said.
After that, Puja went out of the drawing-room in search of her father.
Emon came out to the front veranda.
Sometime later, Puja also came to the front veranda.
“What did Dewta say?” Emon asked.
“Dewta will go to the bazar a little later. He’ll get crackers for us while coming back,” Puja said.
“Oh! Why didn’t you ask Dewta the money? We could have bought crackers ourselves.”
