Chapter 12. Christmas Morning -Cassandra POV- The first light of Christmas morning poured through the bedroom window, casting a dance of golden hues across the room. In our bed, William and I lay wrapped in each other's arms, our skin still humming with the echoes of the Luna Ceremony's magic and days of unbridled passion. William shifted, his arm brushing mine as he stirred to life. He whispered, “Merry Christmas, my angel,” his voice blended with the soft morning hush. Merry Christmas, my warrior," I replied. My heart danced against my chest, eager to sing out the joy blooming within me. Today was more than a celebration; it was a revelation, a secret I had harbored since the ceremony, waiting for the perfect moment to unveil. He slipped out of bed, a smile playing on his lips. "Stay here. I have a surprise for you." His voice held a note of mystery, sparking a surge of anticipation within me. The kitchen came alive with the clatter of pans, and the rich, inviting scent of brewing coffee snaked its way to me, wrapped in the sheets. I lay there, wrapped in the sheets, my mind lost in the memories of the previous days. Mate did well. Izzy sighed. Our mates did very well. I replied. We let Raven and Izzy out so they could enjoy each other. Izzy and I both sighed, surfing on the ecstasy of those memorable moments. William came back with breakfast on a tray. Seeing him taking care of me like that warmed my heart. He put the tray down and sat next to me, his eyes full of the same love I felt. We dove into the meal, our laughter mingling with the clink of cutlery, our words lighter than the air that carried them. "I can't believe it's already Christmas," I tore a croissant, warmth spreading through me. “Feels like we've always known each other, doesn't it?” William’s hand found mine. His touch sent little shocks of electricity through my body. “I’ll never get tired of this,” I said, my heart swelling with emotions I couldn't quite name. William leaned closer, “I have something for you.” My eyebrows arched in curiosity. "Oh? What is it?" "You'll have to wait and see." he teased, a playful smirk on his lips. We finished our meal amidst idle chatter, the room's warmth and the season's joy enveloping us like a cozy blanket. As I cleared the dishes, William slipped away. When he returned, he handed me a small, neatly wrapped package. "For you," he whispered, his voice barely above a breath. I took the package, my fingers brushing against his. "My warrior, you didn't have to..." "Just open it," he urged. I carefully unwrapped the package, my movements deliberate, prolonging the moment. As the paper faded, revealing the gift, my expression shifted from curiosity to awe. "It's... William, this is..." The silver chain slid cool and light into my palm, and from it dangled a pendant, its craftsmanship catching the light in a dance of silver and shadow. The emblem of the Blood Moon Pack was etched into its surface, a symbol of my new role and our shared future. "I wanted you to have a part of me, even when we're apart," he explained, his voice laced with emotion. William reached out, pulling me into an embrace that spoke volumes of his love and gratitude. "Thank you," I whispered, his breath warm against my ear. "This means more to me than you could possibly know." We sat in the golden light of morning, holding each other, the world outside fading into insignificance. At that moment, all that mattered was our bond, which had grown stronger with every challenge we faced. As we finally parted, William looked into my eyes, his shining with unspoken words. "Now, to my surprise," I said, a hint of playfulness returning to my voice. -William POV- The morning sun gently lit the living room, casting a soft glow on the Christmas tree. Cassandra led me over with a smile, her hand warm in mine. She reached under the tree and pulled out a small, wrapped gift. 'For you,' she said, a hint of mystery in her smile. I took the gift, its lightness surprising me. Could it be some new gadget? Curiosity nudged at me. I carefully unwrapped it, Cassandra watching quietly, a playful glint in her eye. The wrapping gave way to a plain box. My heart raced a little as I opened it, half-expecting some high-tech surprise. Instead, nestled within the box was a simple stick with a smiley face drawn on it. I blinked, taken aback. My mind raced, trying to understand this enigmatic gift's meaning. "My angel, I..." My voice trailed off, a mix of confusion and curiosity coloring my tone. She bit her lip, a nervous yet joyful glint in her eyes. What's this Raven? You're an i***t. Raven replied. You have been so focused on pleasing her that you didn't even notice? Notice what? I asked him. I'm confused, Raven. What did I miss? I'm so done with you. Was Raven’s reply before retreating to the back of my mind. "What did Raven want?" Cassandra asked me with a sly grin. Were they both in on this joke, I wondered. I picked up the stick and looked at it from all sides and angles. "It's not just any stick, my warrior," she began, her voice quivering with barely contained emotion. The words hung in the air, yet I couldn't understand the underlying meaning. Cassandra looked at me intently, willing me to understand. My palms started to sweat. What am I missing? I screamed at Raven. I took in a deep breath. Cassandra's smell… it wasn't the pure Lilac smell I was used to. There was something else… bergamot? How did I miss that? You were focused on the scent of her and your arousal, i***t. Raven scoffed. The profound revelation took a moment to register fully. A positive pregnancy test. A child. OUR child! My confusion melted away, replaced by a wave of overwhelming joy. I stared at the stick, the smiley face now a symbol of the most incredible news I could have ever hoped to receive. A child. A tangible manifestation of our love and bond. "My angel, are you... are we..." I stammered, my emotions surging like a tidal wave. She nodded, her eyes brimming with tears of happiness. "Yes, my warrior. We're going to be parents." In an instant, I was on my feet, the distance between us vanishing as I pulled her into my arms. We held each other tightly, our bodies trembling with the magnitude of the moment. A new life, a new journey, was beginning for us, and the reality of it was as exhilarating as it was daunting. "I can't believe it," I whispered, my voice choked with emotion. "This is the best gift I could have ever received." Cassandra laughed through her tears, filling the room with its melody. "I thought it might be a nice surprise," she said, her eyes shining with love and happiness. We sat on the couch, still wrapped in each other's embrace. The Christmas tree stood sentinel beside us, its lights reflecting our joy and casting a soft, magical glow around the room. "I'm going to be a father," I said, the words tasting new and wondrous. "And I'm going to be a mother," Cassandra added, her voice filled with awe. “I had accepted it would never happen to me…” As morning passed to afternoon, the sun shifted in the sky, casting long, golden shadows across the room. The air was filled with a sense of peace and contentment, a feeling that everything was exactly as it should be. "Our lives are about to change most incredibly," Cassandra said, her hand resting on her still-flat stomach. I nodded a sense of responsibility and protectiveness welling up within me. "I promise to be the best father I can be, my little pup," I said to her belly, my voice firm with resolve. "And I promise to be the best mother," Cassandra replied, her voice equally determined. We sat there in the quiet of the living room, lost in our thoughts and dreams for the future. With its twinkling lights and festive decorations, the Christmas tree was a testament to the joy and love that filled the room. --THE END--
