CHAPTER 005

1200 Words
I followed Mr. Blackwood through the empty hallway, my mind racing with possibilities. Who could this mysterious family member be? If it was my mother or father, Mr. Blackwood had told me that they were here to see me. Rather, he told me that a family member was here to see me. We stopped in front of a door I had never noticed before. Mr. Blackwood nodded. "She's waiting for you in there." I took a deep breath, pushed open the door, and stepped inside. The room was dimly lit, with a soft, ethereal glow emanating from the corners. A woman sat in a chair, her back to me. As I approached, she turned to face me. My breath caught in my throat. She was stunningly beautiful, with piercing green eyes and long, flowing hair the colour of snow. "Who are you?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. "And do you perhaps know me?" The woman's smile was enigmatic. "You don't remember me, Aurora? Do you?" she asked her voice like music. Suddenly, the air around us began to shimmer and shine. The woman's appearance shifted, her beauty becoming even more breathtaking. Her skin glowed with a soft, lunar light, and her hair flowed like the stars. I felt a jolt of recognition, and my heart skipped a beat. I knew who this woman was. I had seen her in my visions and heard her whispered words in my mind. A blurry flashback occurred to me. Right before the rogue wolves attacked me, I saw her standing before me, she turned to me and whispered. 'This time you'll hold the power, Child' With reverence, I dropped to my knees, my head bowed in respect. "Moon Goddess," I whispered, my voice trembling with awe. The goddess's laughter was like the gentle rustling of leaves. "Rise, child," she said, her voice full of warmth. "We have much to discuss." Realization hit me. It must be her who sent me back in time. Taking a hard gulp I opened my mouth to voice my question. "Why am I here?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. The goddess's expression was solemn. "You have been given a second chance, Aurora. A chance to redeem yourself, to change the course of events that led to your downfall. A chance to make him regret rejecting you" I felt a surge of confusion. "But why?" I asked almost sounding stupid. The goddess's eyes seemed to bore into mine but with warmth and sympathy. "You believed you were unworthy, that you were too plain, too simple for Zephyr's love. But that was not the truth." I shook my head, trying to process the goddess's words. "What do you mean?" The goddess's voice was gentle. "Zephyr left you for reasons that had nothing to do with your worth. But his rejection led you down a path of destruction, one that ultimately sealed your fate." What? I felt a chill run down my spine. "What reasons are you talking about? Goddess of the moon" The goddess's expression turned grave. "You will have to find out for yourself. As for your sealed fate. Your death, Aurora, will trigger a tragic event that will destroy Zephyr. But you have the power to change that." My heart sank. I have been thinking wrongly of him. I thought he would have felt happy and relieved that I died, but I never thought he'd have to face a tragedy because of me. A part of me still cared about him because, after all, he was my destined mate, no matter how much he made me suffer. "How am I going to change that?" The goddess's eyes sparkled. "You have been given the gift of foresight, Aurora. Use it to uncover the secrets of your past, to understand the motivations of those around you, and to make informed decisions that will change your fate. You will have increased confidence" I felt a sense of wonder, a sense of possibility. I was ready to take on the challenge, to change my fate, to take my revenge on Zephyr and to save him from the tragedy. He was still my mate. I cannot let him die. If someone has to change that arrogant, egoistic and selfish mind, it would be me. I cannot tolerate someone else ruining him when it should be me. I went back to the classroom, and my head was filled with questions and confusion. What could be his reason for rejecting me? The school was over and I was currently walking through the hallway. Melissa went home early because she had to attend a family lunch. Suddenly someone pulled me inside a dark room and covered my mouth just as I was about to scream. My eyes widened when I saw the person's face in the dimly lit room. He slowly uncovered my mouth as I glared at him. "Are you insane Zephyr?" I asked as he narrowed his eyes stepping back. The expression on his face screamed anger and annoyance. And something about it made me feel uneasy. "You thought I'd let you off after you slapped me?" For a moment, I forgot how to breathe. I already thought he would forget and pretend as if it never happened. He raised his eyebrows and I thought of an excuse to dismiss. "I felt hurt when you said those things to me and I acted out without thinking," I said, trying to sound according to the situation. He scoffed loud enough for me to hear. I swear these are the first times I have seen this man smirking or scoffing. "Don't play the victim here. You insulted me in front of my parents and your parents when all I was trying to do was pretend to be on good terms with you" He spoke through gritted teeth, towering over me as I shrank under his shadow, sending shivers down my spine. "I cannot pretend to like you when in reality I hate you to the depths of hell" I managed to sag it and his sapphire eyes were full of shock and bewilderment. Suddenly, a low husky chuckle left his mouth as he stared into my widened eyes. "Im shaking in my boots Aurora. Please, do go on about how much you hate me" His smirk widened and all of a sudden he didn't feel like the Zephyr I knew. All of a sudden, my bravado faltered, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. I tried to step back, but Zephyr's hand shot out, grasping ny wrist. For a moment, our eyes locked, the air thick with tension. Zephyr's gaze seemed to bore into my soul, making my heart race. But then, unexpectedly, Zephyr's expression changed. He released my wrist, his eyes never leaving mine. "Our fate is tied, Aurora. We're bound by something deeper than reason or choice." My lips parted, but I said nothing. I knew, deep down, that Zephyr spoke the truth. We were mates no matter how much I hated the idea. I was no longer a fan of being his mate. not after what I went through. "Then I'd like to change our fate"
