LOGAN POV
Her words hit a nerve, how dare her mother try and use control tactics on her, I want to know more, I need to take Morghan down to the guesthouse and find out what is going on. Maybe I need to try and get her out of going, or maybe I need to give her the ability to feign illness, and I can get her out of there. The restaurant father has chosen is right on the riverbanks, it overlooks the territories various sporting teams, from water, land, air, they are all there.
Bringing my attention back to the girl before me, who is looking equal parts, irritated, pissed, worried, upset and worst of all, vulnerable. I really hate that she is made to feel all these things and not really be able to let them out anywhere, I guarantee that father won’t allow Daniella to help, I will get Lexi to reach out.
Seeing her looking so lost at the minute, I reach out to touch her hand, my movements tentative, she allows me to take her hand a place it back onto my arm and we walk to the stairs, down them, then through the kitchen, which is the quickest way, father will expect I took her around the whole Palace or down the long hallway.
When we get to the back door, I tell her to wait, and I turn and duck into the cooler, grabbing a plate of brownies. When I walk out smiling like a loon, I take her hand again this time holding it, entwining our fingers, I don’t even give it a second thought. At the guesthouse door she quickly opens it with her keys, and we walk in, “like we didn’t just pull off the best brownie heist this place has ever seen!” I say proudly.
Morghan looks at me, still looking all serious, when her eyes meet mine, as I stand here chest puffed out and fists on my hips trying to look all superhero’ish for her. Then without warning she breaks into the biggest smile, then begins to laugh maniacally, I guess my plan worked she is calmer and smiling the laughter that comes from her is the topping on everything.
She got things together quickly, once she was done, she sat to have her soda that I had grabbed from the fridge having already consumed a brownie as she ran around, she gives me an evil side eye look, then proceeds to growl protectively over the brownie plate, it’s rather cute.
Backing up, I raise my hands in a placating manner. Her smile is wide, it makes me happy to see her smile, and I can’t help but wonder why my father is so determined to know about her. A few more minutes and of course father is in my head, questioning our whereabouts.
Suggesting that she keep the brownies in the refrigerator, and we need to make our way to the garage, as Father is waiting. I watch as she rolls her eyes again, I hope she refrains from doing that when she is around father.
It’s awkward when we step into the back of the SUV, dad had it modified to have seats with the ability to turn and keep meetings and conversations going. Father is one of those people who believe that money can and does buy everything in his life. I am pleased that the Moon Goddess has the control over Fated Mates, I spose for that fact, I am also grateful that father respects the Moon Goddess and Shifter Nature Laws.
Daniella seems to be a lovely woman, and I know they are fated, but I know that it worries Morghan, but she will see that her mother is treated very well, and father will worship her in his own way. I don’t know why if her mother is normally a very bold person, that she is conceding and being so submissive.
Lycan mateships are unique, there are unknown things that connect between Lycan’s, for many years there have been questions about the differences from Wolves to Lycans.
I will take Morghan to the Council library when we get there, she will love to read about her mothers Fated Mate line. I will try to find out more about Morghan’s line too, it might help her understand, I am pretty sure that she has no idea that she is of a Lycan Bloodline.
There is a conversation that will be very interesting, I have kept Morghan’s arm still linked with mine, perhaps by doing so, she won’t feel the need to display her anxiety by fidgeting.
“We will have our meal then we will stop by the Office I have at the Council’s base. Ladies I will expect you to both be silent unless, I speak to you. Is that clear?” Father addressing them like we are back in the dark ages, women are seen and not heard. I can feel the irritation radiating off of Morghan.
Patting her arm, I know I risk her losing her s**t, just like she did last time, but I am hoping that she will realise I am going to ensure that she is able to keep her cool, show my father that he doesn’t win, not ever. But not by directly challenging him, it’s like when I used to teach the younger boys how to manage and conduct themselves when they would have discussions with dad.
I hear her breathing, it’s not obvious, I notice because I am listening for her triggers and what is going to get her more irritated, I don’t need to say anything, she seems to have understood my words before, seems like she might like to try and work out her own questions and answers for my father.
I appreciate that Morghan has been raised different, not in an antiquated manner, she has been given the opportunity to build herself up to be a strong woman, a leader, a matriarch of sorts. For the way packs are run now, I can say that Morghan is pretty much the model to base how a Luna should be on. She still has things to learn, but she is protective of others, and she knows the way to conduct herself, just not quite how father wants her to, but I will help him realise she is much more than she looks.
I really do think Morghan is way more than father thinks, he could very well be looking at his decision now, wondering if he has bought this hellcat into the house, she is going to tear up the environment, scattering her own essence around. It’s almost comical to think about really, I realise I am stuck in my head temporarily when Morghan taps my shoulder. Father and her mother have already exited the vehicle, making their way into the restaurant father has chosen.
Morghan making her way out of the vehicle before I get a chance to move, dear goddess I hope father is not watching, he will definitely say something. Quickly finding my way to Morghan’s side, “Hey, do me a favour, I am going to make sure I stick by you, but I need you to for today, just follow my lead, trust me there is a method to my request.” I smile and watch her for her reaction. She just nods, then returns to take in the building and surroundings, looking a little in awe.
I smile bigger, her presence and the fact that she wants to know things, she just keeps working out little ways to pluck away at fathers resolve, it’s fun to watch, I only know one other person who can do the same to father, that is my brother Chase, now that’s another thing to grin about, Morghan might be just the one to catch Chase’s attention. The thought making me miss my brothers a little but also makes me happy to think about Chase and Morghan’s meeting. I think to myself, and chuckle.
