The address Richard had written for me wasn't far from the city centre. A brass plaque beside the entrance listed three firms. The one I wanted occupied the second floor. The receptionist smiled politely. "Do you have an appointment?" "I do. Avalan Hayes." She checked her screen. "Mr Fenwick will see you shortly." The waiting area was quiet enough that every page turning sounded louder than it should. Five minutes later, an older man opened the inner door. "Ms Hayes?" I stood.
