“Brian! Nice ride! Was this your birthday present?” Walker runs up to inspect the Camaro and give Brian a man shake. “Yeah this was my present! Pretty amazing.” Walker walks around to my side as I get out. “I’m in love.” He’s looking at me but I assume he’s talking about the car. “I’m heading to class Bry. See you later.” Brian coughs under his breath “oblivious” and laughs. I just look at him with a raised eyebrow. “Wait Eva. If Brian got this amazing gift what did you get.” Walker grabs my hand. I’m about to answer when I hear a growl from the side. Wesley is standing by his jeep with eyes on walkers and I’s hands. I shake free and say “oh way better! Two adorable baby goats.” “Of course you did. When can I come play with them.” “Uh you and Brian can arrange your own play dates.” With that I set off to class with Brian’s laughter in the background. “Eva hey! You have English right now don’t you?” Wesley walks up to me. “Yeah I’m trying to get there early today.” “I have a class in that building I’ll walk with you.” I’m confused on what is going on with him today but agree to him coming along. It’s gotta be nerves for the ceremony tonight. “So my dad is having me help with Brian’s ceremony tonight and wants me to do yours on my own.” “That’s a huge step Wesley! Congratulations on getting to do this. I’m nervous about tonight too so we can be nervous together at the ceremony. I’m sure you’ll do great!” Wesley blows out breath. “Sounds good! I’m definitely nervous to do this. I was scared you would be mad about it too.” “Why would I be mad. You’re going to be alpha soon and need to know.” I look at him puzzled. I mean he has to learn at some point. “What if I do something wrong. What if the goddess rejects me and doesn’t gift us anymore.” I stop in my tracks and it makes Wesley stop too. He looks down at me with a furrowed brow. I give him a hug. I hate hugging but I think he needs it. “Oh Wesley I’m sure there’s a lot going through your head about the possibilities. We won’t know until it happens and whatever happens there’s reason for it. However I know you’ll do great. The goddess blessed you double. You have to be in her favor.” Wesley was shocked at first but quickly hugged me back. I think he may have even sniffed me but maybe I just thought that. “Thank you Eva. I feel better.” “No problem Wesley. Now let’s get to class. I think the professor already hates me.” “He hates everyone Eva. I don’t think I know anyone he has taken a slight liking to.” I laugh but wonder why he is so hard everyone. Entering the lecture hall I take my seat off to the side in the middle and wait for Steph. We decided all of our general classes should be taken together so we could help each other study. Steph finally makes her grand appearance right before the bell rings. She’s a free spirit and is always cutting it close on time or late. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her early to anything. “Happy birthday bestie! Can we celebrate after class until your big ceremony?” “You can come home and help me get ready after my next class. I promised my mom I’d go straight home. If you come over you can meet my birthday presents.” “Ooh mom is making sure nothing is amiss for tonight huh. What kind of new pet did the parents get you this time?” “The most adorable baby goats! I can’t wait to get a feel for them and name them! I think my mom was scared I’d feel the need to find peace through art. It’s been a pretty decent day though. Wesley and Walker were acting weird but other than that it’s been pretty normal.” “Walker is just waiting for the day you finally notice his undying love for you.” “Oh my gosh! Bry said the same thing about being oblivious to him. Am I really?” “Girl he’s been a lost puppy to you for years! Everyone sees it but you. However that should be enough to tell him you’re not interested. Some guys just have no clue.” “It’s not that I’m not interested. It just feels wrong to get in a relationship that’s not my mate. The awkwardness of finding him and having a boyfriend to say hey sorry you’re not meant for me is very cringey for me.” “I mean you’re right. It’s not fun but your right.” Steph playfully shoved me. I look down at my watch and realize it’s 5 minutes after 9 and the professor hasn’t came in. “Did we miss an email saying class was canceled?” “I didn’t get anything from this professor. Hey 5 more minutes and we can leave though.” Steph gave an eyebrow wiggle at that. “What are you going to go back to bed or go cause some trouble.” She gasped at me in shock. “I am innocent angel and would never cause trouble.” She replied while batting her eyelashes at me. “Mmmk I’m just gonna call your mom quick. See if she even agrees to these blatant lies.” “You’ll make her laugh all morning with that joke. I think she expects me to burst into flames anytime I encounter a crucifix.” We’re both laughing at our jokes when the first student exits the classroom. It’s 9 after and we’re supposed to wait 10 minutes so no one else has moved yet. It feels like everyone is holding their breath in hopes he doesn’t show in the next 30 seconds so we can have a free hour. I look over at Steph and she’s looking at her watch with hopeful eyes and a smile. “Aaaaaaand we’re clear! Freedom baby! I’m starving let’s go get breakfast and coffee. After I’ll hangout in the library until your next class is done and we can go get ready for your life changing ceremony.” I roll my eyes at her. “It’s not that life changing. I’m sure I’ll get my mom’s ability with the plants and not be needed too much.” “You never know. The goddess does what she wants.” Steph said as we exited the room with all the other students. Her words held some merit. The goddess does do what she wants but with my mom being strong in her plant yielding power it’s safe to assume I’d get that. There’s always a chance though.
