“You’ve stirred up a hornet’s nest, Elijah. Words won’t be enough.”
“I’ll clear the company’s name by proving that the allegations against Nora Walter are true,” I explained.
“I have investigators working on it as we speak. Once we have concrete evidence, we can present it to the public and show that the company was acting in good faith.”
“And what if you’re wrong?” Stuart interjected, leaning forward.
“What if your so-called evidence falls apart? You’ll have dragged all of us down with you for nothing.”
“I’m not wrong,” I said through gritted teeth.
“I’ve verified the initial findings, and I wouldn’t have acted unless I was confident.”
My mother placed a hand on my father’s arm, her voice gentle but firm.
