An ambulance was called, and Asher was rushed to the hospital. Most of the family members went with him, their faces pale with worry. I barely paid attention to the hushed conversations or the judgmental glances thrown in Cole’s direction. Instead, I grabbed his wrist and pulled him along, leading him upstairs to my room. Once inside, I shut the door behind us, blocking out the rest of the world. Cole stood there, silent, his fists still clenched, blood smeared across his knuckles.
