Cold coffee

"Good morning sir" the secretary greeted at the entrance of my office.
"How are you brown?"
"Happy married life sir” I reply him with a thanks
“But sir, we didn’t expect you to resume quickly. All your schedules has been on hold so we thought are going to stay with your wife” brown wondered
“You know I don’t like being lazy” it was true but it was the second reason. The actual reason was because of Maeve, If I stay home we are going to be together and I don’t want the closeness between us, I don’t want to develop any thing called feelings cause this is not what we planned
“Yes that right!” He nods in agreement
“I would have love to come but none of us in the office were invited " brown said following me to my office
"Oh! I forgot to tell you guys, it's just in a rush so it was our families that invited people" i sat down and I saw a letter there.
"What is this?" I asked as I opens it "it's from you??" I raised a brow at him and he gave me a nod
“I didn’t expect you to come today, so I just put it on the table so that you can see it when you come back” he said with a low tone
"A resignation letter? You wanted to resign, but why?" I was curious cause I know I do treat my employees well so I wanted to know the reason of the resignation
"Am sorry sir" he apologized
"Why are you sorry? It's your choice to resign but I just wanted to know the reason why?"
"It's just a issues at home, my wife is pregnant and my mother is sick and am the only child. The doctor said my mother sickness is not a serious illness it’s old age and can be treated with medication but the most important thing is attention and care. I don't even know she has been going through a lot even my wife will be due in little time and she wasn’t the strong type so they both need me now” a drop of tear falls and he quickly clean it with his hand
“Am sorry, I don’t know it was an emotional thing” i said with a tone of pity in my voice
“But it’s wasn’t much of a big deal, I can still work later when they are okay but right now I need to leave the job” he gave a slight smile
“Alright, if you ever need anything just call me okay!” He nods in appreciation
“Thank you sir” he smiles and I also did
“Well, I think you should go home, This month salary will be wired to you by the accountant immediately before you finish packing your stuff”
“And also I add mine, just now” I added
An alert was heard on his phone and he shouted after checking it.
“Thank you so much sir, I really appreciate this. I know we just took a new month and am not even expecting any money but you said I will be given but this one you sent as a gift I don’t think I can take it” he’s in tears as he was speaking, I know he had always been an emotional person but he’s good in his work that’s the reason I like him
“It’s for the treatment, you know you worth it” I smile and he bows
“Thank you so much sir!!!! Thank you!” He shouted happily
“I had somewhere to go today, it’s work of course but I don’t need a secretary so you can go home”
“No sir, I will at least finish my work for today before leaving” he insisted
“No, you can leave. Am actually planning on leaving early today” I added
“Really?”
“Yeah it more like an order” I said with a smile
“You are the best, thank you much sir” he rejoiced as he left. Smiling at his reaction as he walked out, and picked up my phone to call the accountant
“Hi Lana” I said and she replied
“Brown is resigning so send him his salary immediately”
“Alright sir” she replied
I started to do what am supposed to, I met some files on the table it was quite much.
“I think I need a new assistant urgently” I said as I call the recruiter

Staying at home all day without no one to talk to is so boring, I know I have friends that I can talk to but they are sometimes annoying. I planned on not taking their calls anymore for today cause they been teasing me since morning and when they call back it’s still the same thing.
I dress causally and went out of my room “Rudy I wanted to get some things” I said to him
“But you can send any of the workers there, what do you need? I can help you with it” I know he won’t let me go easily, actually I don’t know what I wants to do but I just want to stroll around.
“No thanks” I said and quickly walk out to the car
“But ma’am” he wanted to complain but as I opened the car door I gave him a face that said it’s fine
I drove out of the compound and head to the road I played a music and started singing along. After driving for miles I felt tired and turns to head back home.
On my way back I felt thirsty “I think am craving for something cold, what should I go for? cold drink or a iced coffee” I said to myself
I parked and get down of the car to go and get a drink so when I was about to enter the building I had a phone call so I stopped. I looked at my screen and the caller was Alice
“Not again!” I gritted, hanging up I open the door a, A lady holding a coffee bumped into me
“Oh! It’s cold” I shouted cause I was caught off guard
“Am sorry, I should have known but it’s because am in a rush” the lady apologized
“No it’s not your fault, I should have look up but am distracted” I said with a smile
“Oh! No” she said as she noticed my clothes was a little wet from the coffee.
“It’s not a big deal. It’s fine, I will go and get another one”
“Am really sorry” she kept apologizing
“I thought you said you are in rush” I told her cause that’s the reason we both bumped and I don’t want her to be late
“Oh my goodness, I need to go get another one” she said and enter the drinks store back and I follows, of course am still thirsty and I need a drink
“Ma’am you will have to wait a little bit” the guy said cause they had a lot of customers
We both sat down and she continued
“Ma’am am really sorry” she looked at me with a guilt expression
“Am really okay, Am supposed to be the one apologizing cause I had to make you wait for a new one”
“But your clothes got ruined!” She said and I gave her a smile
“I can go and get a new one and you don’t need to call me ma’am, I’m Maeve”
“Oh! I’m Lana, you look really pretty” she commented
“Oh! Thanks you also look good” we both smile and after a while she said
“Do you think my boss is going get mad at me cause I told him I would be back soon and now am 15minutes late” she looks worried
Staring at her I noticed she was wearing a tag on her neck. It says her name and she was an accountant!
Why would they sent an accountant an errand? Especially a coffee??
“Am sorry you an accountant?” I curiously asked
“Yes, my work place is not far from here”
“No I mean why won’t they send you an errand as an accountant or are you an outcast?” I raised a brow
“Oh! Am not” she quickly denied and added
“It’s just that my boss secretary which is more like a personal assistant to him resigned today due to some issues”
Issue? I think his boss is the wicked type, sending an accountant an errand? Who knows maybe he left due to bullying
“Of course my boss is not the reason” She laughed
“Am sorry?” I was confused on how she knew what am thinking
“Your face say it all” Myles also said it, I think I don’t know how to hide my feelings most people can guess what am thinking cause I show the expression on my face
“Oh! Sorry” I smiled
“It is just a home’s issue, and he has been working alone and it’s much because his schedule was on hold so he has to start working on it but he told me he wanted to and get some coffee and I volunteered cause it tiring working alone and he just got married so the stress is much” she explained and I nods
“I don’t know that’s what happened, am sure if am the one I would also like to help as well” I said with a smile
“But I promise him I would be back soon, he’s going to be mad right?” She asked curiously
“No, the way you describe your boss, he a nice guy he’s not going to get mad at you” I gave her reassuring words
“Really?”
“Yeah, I don’t think he’s that type of guy, getting mad at a lady for not bringing his coffee at the right time?”
“Yeah that’s right, Mr Wilson is not the type. He is one of the nicest boss ever!” She smiles
“Wait Mr Wilson? You mean Myles Wilson??” I shouted
