Chapter FiveThere were a dozen things on Monday morning for Anthea to do in the house, but, although she was busy, she kept thinking with a feeling of relief that today the Marquis’s guests would be leaving Queen’s Hoo for London and Lord Templeton and Milly would be amongst them. She had looked in Harry’s sporting paper, which he took once a week, and found that there was quite a lot written about Lord Templeton’s chance of winning the Derby, but the favourite was a horse belonging to the Marquis. It was therefore easy to understand that, if the Marquis was dead and his horse therefore did not run, Lord Templeton hoped to win a great deal of money.
