Chapter FourAnthea was awoken by Nanny pulling back the curtains in her bedroom. “It’s ten o’clock, dear,” she said, “and I think you should get up or you’ll be late for Church.” “Ten o’clock!” Anthea exclaimed. “How can it be so late?” She sat up in bed, thinking as she did so that she had been dreaming a wonderful dream in which everything had seemed beautiful and happy.
