"Good work today, everyone."
I closed my laptop as the team filed out of the conference room after our Thursday afternoon project meeting. We'd just completed our first major milestone-three weeks ahead of schedule. The Henderson audit was done, and our preliminary strategy had been approved.
Everyone was riding high on the success.
"Helen, hold on a second?"
I looked up to find Kelvin standing by the door, waiting as the last team members left. My heart did that annoying flutter it always did when he looked at me like that-focused, intent, like I was the only person in the room.
