From what she could determine, it appeared to be approximately five miles in length and about two miles in width. It was mostly flat, with some rocky prominences. In some places it appeared to be no more than a few feet above sea level. There was one large feature at one end of the island: a giant rock that jutted up into the air at least a hundred feet or so. Assa knew that some islands were created by volcanoes sticking up above the surface of the ocean. Their lava rose up and flowed down the sides of the mountain and created land as the lava touched the water and froze into rock.
