Fine, said Assa. They stepped onto the beach. The sand was warm and fine-grained against Assa’s soles. She stood and twisted her feet so that she sunk down a couple of inches and the grains flowed in and covered her feet. She thought she could remain in place like this for many many days. Maybe weeks. The sun beat down on her head and warmed her arms and face. Dawn and Dusk grabbed her hands and pulled her away. They all three hollered and ran to the waves breaking on the beach.
