She heard a yelp of joy coming from the atrium. The twins must have found something good. Or something interesting, at least. She looked down at the still form of Hoyal again, then, reluctantly, walked back to the atrium. She found Dusk and Dawn sitting on the ground facing each other with wooden containers arrayed between them on the ground. They had taken off the lids of some of the containers and had pulled out food: dried fruit and meat, some fresh apples and mangoes, cheeses, and loaves and loaves of bread. Dusk gnawed on a hunk of the bread and Dawn had a wedge of cheese in her hand. She chewed noisily and waved at Assa to come over. We’re having a feast, she said. Come eat. But I’m a commoner, said Assa. I can’t eat with royals. We’ll make an exception, said Dusk, wiping crumbs
