Stalker

1091 Words
Samael I set foot into the sore-for-sight bar, I take a one over and first thing I observe is that it's much wider on the inside than it is on the outside and instead of sighting Asher or Parker, I sight her.  She's by the bar again. Different location but, almost under the same circumstances. I obviously have to talk to her. Her head is bowed forward and she's staring at her drink, her long, dark hair falls over her face a little. As she pulls it behind her hair, she simultaneously looks up and her eyes land on me. She noticeably exhales but doesn't look away. I maintain the eye contact as I approach her.  Fallon I'm seated in a bar, savouring my drink and wondering if the person I'm here to meet up with is ever going to show up when my eyes find him. It is completely unexpected and I think of a similar line he used on me the day we met at White Rabbit. 'You stand out from the crowd'. He does. I don't mean to but, I'm unable to take my eyes off him as he makes his way towards me. He's dressed in all black like the day we met at White Rabbit and I'm starting to suspect that's all he wears. Like the old me. I'm wearing a flower print long-sleeved blouse and a black leather mini-skirt. I'm here for an interview for the bartender position and you know what they say - 'dress the way you want to be addressed'. I want to be addressed like a harmless, Uptown girl not like buffy the werewolf slayer.  "You're definitely following me, sweetheart", he says with a slight smirk as he pulls the stool next to me and sits down.  "I was here first so that should be my line", "True but, I'm a regular here. I come here every Thursday night. And you just happen to be here. I don't think it's a coincidence", I can't tell if he's messing with me or not. I did meet him very drunk the other night so it shouldn't be too far fetched that he has a Thursday routine to come to a bar but, there's a glint in his eyes that tell me I shouldn't trust everything he says; "Well, I'm here for reasons unrelated to you so..", I angle my body towards my front and away from him in attempt to get him to go even though I'm not sure I want him to go. "Prove it. What are you here for then. Tell me", "I don't have to tell you s**t", I scoff and reply without even thinking. Okay maybe that's not the sweet, polite answer but, this guy is the exact opposite of those things anyway. "It's fine. I would be embarrassed too", as he says that he signals for the bartender and while he orders his drink, I steal glances of suspicion at him. If he was anyone else, I would have suspected that he was sent by my father. It's strange that I've been gone for almost a week and he hasn't reached out to me yet. Asides from Rainer, no one else has reached out to me. But it doesn't make sense. This man I'm looking at doesn't seem like he would belong in my old life. I wouldn't be surprised if he knows nothing about the true nature of the city; the hunters, the Sentinels and especially the Werewolves.  "You're quite annoying, you know that?", my comment causes him to choke on his drink and I swear he's about to laugh but, he quickly covers it up. He's looking at me with this expression on his face that looks similar to amusement. His gaze is intense when he speaks; "I know you like it",  "What gives you that impression?",  "Other than you stalking me?", I roll my eyes at that and his consistent smirk grows into a cheerful grin as he continues to speak; "That right there. That's how I know. You're always hiding a smile when I say these supposedly annoying things". I bite my lip to prevent myself from smiling. He's right, I have been holding back smiles. I can't let him know that though because then I would be approving of his behavior.  "I'm laughing at you not with you",  "mmhm?", he clenches his jaw with a faint smile on his lips as he makes the sound in disbelief; "mmm", I reply. It's like he asked 'really?' and I replied 'really'. We're seated side to side on the bar stools and playing an unofficial staring contest at this point.  "Do you really come here every Thursday?",  he shakes his head no. I hide another laugh, this time with my drink.  "Why are you here?", I ask "For the drinks. Obviously",  "Of all the nights, why tonight?", he's about to respond to my question when something behind me catches his attention. He looks back at me; "The reason I'm here tonight of all nights just walked in", he says as he stands up. I resist the urge to turn my gaze to who he's looking at but, I assume it's probably a woman. Did he have a date? Was he just using me to pass time until she showed up? Well I suppose I was also using him to pass time until my interview but, still.  He's about to leave but then he pauses and holds my gaze again; "Don't leave", is all he says and then he walks away to the reason he was here in the first place. I turn around to steal a glance. It's not a woman. It's a young man that looks around my age and he doesn't look very pleased to see Sammy. I look away before I'm caught and I want to return to nursing my drink but, notice I've downed the whole glass. I look for the bartender but, he's attending to someone else. I'm starting to forget why I came here in the first place. I came for an interview but, the manager of the bar is yet to show up. I would leave in anger under normal circumstances but, I don't. When the bartender finally attends to me again he informs me that the manager would not be able to make it tonight and he gives me a free drink as consolation. That's the final straw. I down the drink at once in frustration and I ignore Sammy's request for me not to leave. I'm leaving.
