Red Room

1185 Words
Samael Once I step back into the White Rabbit, I am once again enveloped in the thick fog of music, lust and, literal fog. My brief interaction with the girl was nice but, it's only a matter of time before life reminds you of your problems. On my way to the Red Room,  I walk past Lex at the bar, Dothan at the balconies with one of the dancers, Trinity, and some of the Omega wolves we brought tonight are making some elaborate scenes on the First floor. No point being in the Banes pack if you're not a fan of making elaborate scenes. We didn't get our reputation as the most notorious pack by conforming to the norm. Finally, I'm at the very well hidden elevator that goes beneath the ground floor; underground.  I walk into the elevator and push the button that leads underground. It makes its usual cranky noises and rocks in such a way that you'd wonder if it was going to stop unexpectedly. It accomplishes its job and in a minute, I am on the underground floor. It's one long hallway and each room serves a different purpose. I walk to the door of the Red Room and inhale before I open the doors. I have to remind myself to stay in control. The man in here is the suspect for killing one of our Beta's, Derek. Even though werewolves still got killed, it's usually lone wolves or wolves from lower-ranking packs. Why would this man kill a werewolf from our pack?  I'm inside now. It's dark and gloomy and smells of iron and rusting metal. Dried blood. The room is wide enough to fit 10 people, and sometimes it does. In a regular torture room, I'd assume they'd be all kinds of weapons like knives and whips but, we don't need weapons. All we need are chains. There are chains dangling from the roof that'll usually have the victim hanging from it. I can see the man dangling from the ceiling from the chains wrapped around his wrists. His head is hung low and despite my entrance, he doesn't react. Something is wrong. I'm standing in front of him now and I can see the problem. He's dead. What the f**k! Without thinking, I howl loudly as a summon for Asher and Lex. I know people in the building could possibly hear it at a lower frequency but, I don't care.  I pace around in the room as I wait for one of them to show up. I miss when my responsibilities didn't involve handling tortures and supervising the younger wolves. Two months ago, I was fine just hitting all the different bars and clubs I could find and, taking laws into my own hands when someone stepped on my toes. In some ways, I was close to becoming a lone wolf but, I never truly could. Being the son of the Alpha of the deadliest pack in the city meant you didn't have the option to just up and walk away. Especially when you have made mistakes in the past that have been covered up for you. I hate to admit it but, if I was a lone wolf, I might have been killed by now. It's the cycle. When you've hurt as many people as I have without a pack to protect you, you're as good as dead. I could have still been in my limbo between a pack member and lone wolf but, my father along with two of his pairs had left for a confidential operation; whatever that means. He's been gone for a month now and in that time, I've had a bunch of new responsibilities thrust upon me. Asher and I have been playing unofficial Alphas for the time being. The door to the Red Room opens and Asher walks in followed by Dothan. "What the f**k', Dothan says once he sees that the man is dead. Asher sighs deeply but, says nothing. "Bled to death?", I throw the question to them as I examine the body one more time. It's possible that's what killed him. There is an impressive pool of blood at his feet. Both of them glance at the body too but don't contribute to my speculations on what could have killed him. "I'm going to go get those pups to come to clean this up", Dothan says and he excuses himself leaving Asher and me in the room.  Asher is usually on the quiet side but, he is being unusually quiet tonight. He's unshackling the man's wrists from the chains and his blonde brows are knitted tightly together, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to notice that he is upset about something. I am too. I understand the anger that comes with realizing you may not get true justice for one of your own. He and Derek were close.  "You can rest easy now, Asher. He's dead. Maybe not as brutally as you would have liked but, it's over." I know that Asher wanted to get more information off of him. Why did he kill Derek? Who was he? Was he a hunter? If he was then I might be wrong about it being over. Even though technically there's ' peace'  between the humans and the werewolves and the Sentinels who I f*****g hate, everyone knows the beef between the human hunters and werewolves wasn't anywhere near settled yet.  "I don't think it is", he unshackles the second wrist and the body drops to the ground with a thud. The doors open again and Dothan and two of the Omegas whose names I do not recall walk in. The pups have a look of excitement on their faces and I'm guessing it's because this is their first time in this room.  "Alright, boys, get this s**t cleaned up and I don't know what the hell you're gonna do but, I want this weird coppery smell gone by the next time we need to use this room.", Dothan dishes out the instructions on what to do and what not to do. Instructions they should have heard before but, Omegas can be absent-minded sometimes. He states the most obvious one; don't eat the body, bury it at Hayride.  When he's done, he adds the most important line; "Remember boys, you haven't seen anything here tonight.". With that Asher, Dothan, and I leave into the elevator. When we get back to the ground floor we walk out of the elevator together and towards the ground floor. To the unknowing people, we are just three ordinary young men with mismatched hair colors. Asher in cropped blonde hair, Dothan in curly brown hair, and me in slightly overgrown wavy black hair. To those who know, we are three werewolves with mismatched hair colors. Either way, we have mismatched hair colors and it's funny to me.  We split ways. Dothan heads back to the balconies, I assume to meet Trinity. Asher heads to the exit and I head back to the bar where only moments ago I was bothering the potentially interesting girl from Uptown.
