Samael
It’s all in place. Lex and Dothan were able to get the blood of several of the survivors, I finally got some proof I needed to reassure me that my Father was indeed dead. I’m still not ready to analyze that more than it needs to be analyzed. We spoke to Asher yesterday and so far, things are going as planned with the elders and other packs. Hopefully, by the time we’re back in Northview, there will be some form of gathering involving at least the Alphas of the different packs in our city.
I’ve been able to get over my paranoia in regards to Hera’s safety; we haven’t been speaking every day but, every time Dothan talks to Trinity, she mentions that Hera is doing good. In a way, I feel like I want what Dothan and Trinity have with her.
Today is the day. Today is the day I go to the council meeting for the first and maybe last time. Today is the day I seat face to face with the powers that be. The nameless and faceless rulers of this city. Lex and Dothan are going to be able to be around the vicinity of the location but, they can’t come in or even close to it. They’re back up. When my Ftaher would go, he would go with Slade and Mara. When I was much younger, he would go with Asher’s father. Now, it’s my turn.
The location of the council building is no secret. Because it was far too dangerous for humans if it was in Hayride, and far too dangerous for werewolves if it was in Uptown and far too dangerous for the council itself to be located in the center of the city, the council building is located on the outskirt of the city. It’s still very much Northview but, not a commercial area. An area reserved specifically for this purpose with maximum security. I’m drivng there right now.
Here’s what I know so far - firsty, there is a screening system of some sorts to ensure only the people that are meant to ge into the building can get in. Because of the recent demise of my father, we had to write to the council ahead of today to inform them that I will be coming in his place. So hopefully, I should have no problem getting in.
Secondly, no weapons whatsoever are allowed in the building with the exception of the security. Not that werewolves need weapons anyway but, something tells me they have the adequate man power on hand if any werewolf decides to act out. I will be the only werewolf in there today. I think. I don’t even know all the positions of people that will be in there.
The third thing I know is the position of some of the people that will be there. I know the Mayor of the city will be there. The man the rest of the city see as the head but, in reality is only part of a much larger system. Mayor Francis is almost a mini celebrity and everyone knows who he is even though, you’d probably never see him in rea life. He’s mostly on the screens, in the news but, you’d have no idea where to find him. I know the head of the Hunters will be there too. An identity you can only know if you know. I also know that the head of human affairs will be there, The person responsible for covering up supernatural eents in the city and perfectly integrating them with tourist attractions and freak accidents. The person I would want to talk to.
For the rest of the people that will be in attendance today, I’m not sure who they are or what they do but, I guess I’d be finding out soon enough.
Lex and Dothan are riding just behind me. By the time we reach the vicinity of the council building, there is a checkpoint. I bring my car to a stop as one of the fully geared security personnel signal for me to pull over. They’re carrying loaded guns that I can bet are filled with bullets laced with wolfsbane which would explain how unafraid they look.
“Hello sir, what brings you here today?”, one of them asks as he peers his head into the window of my car and takes a look around.
“I’m here for the council meeting”,
“Name”,
“Samael Chase”,
‘Can I see some ID”, I hand my ID to him and he disappears behind the checkpoint counter for a few seconds before he comes back out. He nods and hands it back to me as he indicates to his colleague to open the gates to let me through;
“Have a good day, sir”, he says as he looks on to the next car. I can tell that this routine is instilled in him and at this point, he doesn’t even see people as individuals anymore. Just IDs.
Lex and Dothan are behind me and as expected, they can’t come through. It’s no problem. The vials of blood are with them just in case I threaten the council and they try to just take it away from me.
I make my way towards the only standing tower in thie vastly spacious land and it’s pretty obvious this tower has to be the location of the meeting. I actually feel a bit nervous as I park my car in the midst of the many others. I don’t know what I’m going to be experiencing here today.
Right before I step out of my car and into the building, I remember Lucien’s words of advise - “If you make an enemy out of them, they wont stop until you are dead. Don’t let your mother’s sacrifice be for nothing”. There and then, I make a decision that if I get out of this in one piece, I would be having the part 2 of that discussion with Lucien. I’m ready for it.
Another car pulls up beside me as I exit mine. Out of comes a middleaged woman that seems to have a permanent scowl in her face. Our eyes jam for a second and her frown deepens. I have a suspicion of what she is. A Sentinel. If I’m right that will mean she knows what I am too.
She heads into the buidling before me and I wait a few minutes more before I make my way in as well. There is another security check point and here there are currently about 4 people getting checked. They all look disillusioned and I’m sure I’m the only new comer here. I stall a bit farther away from the rest of the people getting screened and only make my way to the check point when they’re all gone.
We repeat the name and ID process. This time I’m also bocily screened for weapons and at the end of it all I’m given a tag that says ‘werewolf represnetative’. How corny. The doors are opened for me and as I step in, I’m presented with the view of an endless board table with chairs on each end. On the tables, there are tags places in front of the chairs with different titles. ‘Mayor’, ‘Tourism’. ‘Hunter’ and many more. I look around until I see my tag - ‘Werewolf’.
The chairs are relatively far apart, I suppose to lower the risk of a hostage situation but, the chairs located to be right and left are ‘Law Enforcement’ and ‘Sentinel’ respectively. As I anticipated, the woman I ran into earlier occupies the Sentinel seat while the Law Enforcement seat is still vacant.
I try my best to look respectable and normal but, from the glares I keep getting, it seems I am doing a poor job at that. As a defense mechanism, I subconsciously emit the energy of someone who doesn’t give a f**k and is just here for a nice time. I lean back relaxed in my chair and glare right back at anyone who looks at me.
Gradually, the place fills up and we are 24 in total. I counted. In front of each of us is a tiny microphone, a bottle of water and an agenda for the day. I already feel like yawning.
“Thank you all for being here today. Shall we begin -”, says the man situated at the farend of the table. The Mayor.
