* * * Ephraim looked up. Surrounded by rocks, water, and howling wind, he flinched at the pain racking his body. Everything hurt. He saw a shadow at the top of the cave. Eric, he"d get him out. He"d get help. Brilliant light streaked through the air and Eric was gone. Ephraim blinked. That had been the light of Solstice magic. Eric was caught in it, unable to return and help until the mating was completed. "Just great," he grumbled, and wished he hadn"t opened his mouth. Painful coughs assaulted his body. There was no telling how long Eric would be gone, and a quick scrutiny of the area proved no friends or family were close enough for a telepathic call for help, at least not with his current level of concentration. Throbbing pain made it difficult to see straight, let alone focus though
