Chapter 33 Three hours later, Chris rested his head in his hands as he sat between Dylan and Ron in a small waiting room while James was in surgery. He wanted to close his eyes and try to ease his emerging headache, but when he did, the image of James falling against the wall in pain haunted him. He glanced at Skinner, who sat across from him and next to James’s mother, Valerie. Skinner’s dark eyes were fixed on Chris as if he blamed him for what had happened to James, but Chris didn’t need Skinner’s silent scolding to feel horrible.
