Chris stepped inside his house and locked the door behind him. Cosnett remained parked outside, which felt comforting, but he would’ve rather had James than Cosnett watching over him. He pulled Ron’s phone from his pocket as he went to the sofa and plopped down, then selected Fanny’s number. The phone rang several times with no answer. He ran his hands over his face as he blew out a breath. A few rings more, then Dylan and Ron answered on speakerphone. “Are you okay?” Dylan asked. Ron said, “What happened today?” “I’m fine,” Chris said. “They arrested one guy.” “We heard,” Dylan said. “This could be the break we need,” Chris said.
