Chapter 13
The police station was a hulking mammoth of a building overlooking the old courthouse like a protective parent. Chris parked in the lot next to the police station and took a deep breath before he stepped out of his car. He couldn’t shake his trepidation no matter how confident he was in Dylan and Ron’s innocence.
Chris stepped into the police station and looked around the busy lobby as he walked toward the front desk. Before he could join the line, Detective Reynolds came out of the stairwell on his left and approached him.
“We’re ready for you,” Reynolds said.
Chris followed him to the staircase door, which Reynolds opened for him.
“We’re at the top of the stairs,” Reynolds said.
