KYRA
“How dare you!?” Amelia barked.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to…” Kyra quivered softly while Seraphim still lay injured on the floor.
“Mother please, what’s going on here?” Liam demanded once more. He just stood there completely confused.
“Why don’t you ask the girl you brought from nowhere with zero explanations? As for me, I’ll go take care of poor Seraphina.” Amelia said as she cuddled Seraphina.
“I promise I can explain, she made me do it.” Kyra stuttered anxiously.
“Kyra please!” He snapped and she finched.
“I’m not lying, she did this on purpose. She set me up. Can’t you see she’s evil?”She let out desperately.
He grabbed her arm forcefully and shook her.
“Stop it Kyra. Stop it! She bled from her nose. Nothing you can say can justify what you did.” he spat.
“You need to listen to me…” Kyra maintained, tears forming in her eyes.
“No, you listen to me. I’ve had time to think about what you said. About me not knowing you enough to love you and you’re right. I want to get to know you but if this is what you are… what you do, then it’ll hard for me to love you.”
Kyra’s heart sank.
“Fine.” She didn’t care to explain anymore. “ It makes sense that you wouldn’t love me…”
“I didn’t say that…” he muttered quietly, regretting instantly.
“…when I just slammed the head of the love of your life against the library shelves.”
“Enough,Kyra. Seraphina is my friend!”
“Well friends don’t share kisses, do they?!” Kyra was overwhelmed now and the tears she was so badly holding back had leaked through her orbs.
“How did you know that?”
“She told me! You’re a liar!” Kyra’s eyes were red as the hot tears streamed down her eyes.
“It wasn’t anything serious. We laughed after it happened. It was such a long time ago.” He insisted.
.
The words he couldn't take back hit a nerve and she realized she had made a mistake by staying in the Lupus Regalis Mansion.
And so, that night, while everyone had gone to bed, Kyra snuck out of the mansion and found her way back home—to sanity, where things felt real.
That night, while she was sneaking away, she came across Liam’s office on her way out.
She watched as he slept.Everything in her wanted him to hold her one more time.
“Mine.”
Kyra pressed her palms against her lips as her eyes widened. She had just mindlessly linked with him again.
Liam snorted and raised his head up as Kyra quickly hid behind the wall.
“Kyra?” Her name escaped his lips softly but there was no response.
Liam placed his head back on his desk and Kyra could make out quiet sniffles.
Liam was sobbing and a tear quietly escaped Kyra’s eyes too but she couldn't go back on her plan.
She soared swiftly yet quietly towards the entrance and finally out of the Mansion.

“My baby… my baby is home!”
Somehow she had found her way home safely in the dead of night.
Kyra hesitated before she finally wrapped her arms around her mother and closed her eyes as a tear escaped.
They welcomed her back home and gave her a blanket for warmth.
“Honey… we… we can schedule a meeting with Dr Sharma is you need_”
“Seriously?!” Kyra exclaimed.
Who could really blame her parents for thinking she was crazy?
She was sitting on a couch opposite them after she went missing and she told them that she was abducted—at least technically— by a family of royal werewolves.
“You guys really think I’m crazy?”
She wasn’t lying this time. This time, she was being real.
“ Baby…” her mother softly called. “… of course we don’t think you’re crazy. Your father is just worried… we both are.”
“You need to believe me.” Kyra insisted.
“Kyra, stop it.” Kenneth snapped, surprising Jenny and Kyra.
“We’ve had enough of this. You ran away without a trace for over twenty four hours and you came back with these lies. Why should we believe you when you keep breaking every bit of trust we have left in you?”
“Ken…” Jenny whispered a caution.
Kyra’s shoulders dropped. She didn’t understand why they kept saying they didn’t believe her when they were werewolves themselves.
“We forgive you for running away, Ok? Go to your room, get some good sleep. Tomorrow we’ll make arrangements with the facility to take you back.” Ken declared.
“There’s no way I’m going back there!” Kyra said, standing her ground still.
“You should have thought about that before you made the crazy decision of running away.”
Kyra knew Kenneth was serious this time.
“Let’s go, darling.” Ken said to Jenny, still giving Kyra a look of disapproval. “Now that we know she’s safe, we can finally get some sleep in this house.”
Jenny gave her daughter a look of pity before walking alongside her husband towards their bedroom.
But Kyra was not done yet.
“I know.” She simply stated and they both paused.
“Kyra please_”.
“I know everything.” She cut her dad off.
They both looked at each other confused.
“I’m giving you both a chance to come clean about who I am now or you can keep lying to me.”
“Kyra…we were trying to protect you_” Kenneth began but Jenny held his hand back, stopping him from doing what he was about to.
Kenneth looked over at his wife and gave her hand a tight reassuring squeeze.
“I want to hear you say it.” Kyra insisted.
Kenneth gave his wife a last look as she gave him a nod. Her approval gave him enough courage to let the cat out of the bag.
“Kyra, you’re adopted. But I want you to know we still I've you.” Kenneth let out softly.
Kyra’s face fell as they rushed over to hug her.
That was not at all what she was expecting for her parents to tell her at all.
***
The night felt like a hundred years and Kyra could not sleep.
And when the morning came, Kyra needed to numb her pain so she asked her junky for a new strain.
Nothing would get in the way of her high, not even her parents.
Her entire life was falling apart and, even if he just took the veil off, she couldn’t help but partly blame him for it.
“Mine… must find…”
She heard in her head. He was looking for her.
“Oh, hell no!” She let out.
Kyra opened the bottle again before popping it all in her mouth.
The rush she sort came and was enough. But then it became too much and then it turned into a problem.
As she tried to get off her bed, her body hit the floor with a loud thud.
The last thing she saw was her dad busting down her bedroom door before everything went blank.

“… I still think we should give her a second chance.”
Kyra could hear the muffled sound of her mother’s voice over the beeping of the heart monitor.
As her eyes adjusted to the bright light of the hospital room.
“I don’t know about you, honey, but from my calculations, she already used up her second chance ages ago.”
“So…what now? You’re just going to throw your daughter into an insane asylum?” Jenny questioned.
Kyra let out a sigh.
She knew this was coming.
“The officials at the Facility will be here any moment. When she wakes up, she’s leaving whether you or she likes it or not.”
Kyra had to think of an idea quickly.
And it hit her, she had to go back to the mansion.
It was the lesser of two evils in her opinion.
Kyra quickly scanned the perimeter and her eyes landed on a window.
They were not on a floor too high up so the curtains would do just fine in anchoring her down.
She had gotten a little rusty since she was twelve. As a result of the fall, she had grazed her knee. Enough to hurt like a sucker but not enough to keep her from dragging herself from the hospital compound, to the main road and into the forest whence she came.
She took a quick look back at the hospital, hoping to see her parents peeping down at her from the window but they were still yet to find out that their run away daughter had once again ran away.
The journey back to the lupus regalis mansion was tedious. Kyra did not know how she was going to get there.
She had made a rash decision. She thought she could go in just as easily as she had come out.
In the cold dark night, when the moon looked strangely more reddish than it usually did, Kyra contemplated going back home but she was too deep in the forest now. She didn’t know how to get to the mansion nor get back home.
Amidst her fear of being lost and doubt, Kyra heard a wolf howl and strangely felt relief.
It made sense, of course Liam sent out pack members to come searching for her.
“I’m here!” Kyra announced weakly as she waved her hands up in the air. “ Over here!”
She saw a bright pair of eyes as they slowly emerged from the darkness.
They were one, then three, then so many that Kyra lost count.
“Thank God you came. I was lost. Can you help me get to the lupus regalis mansion?”
Kyra got no reply.
As the figures fully emerged from the night, Kyra could see they had blood stained fangs.
Their eyes weren’t kind like Liam’s and held a craze that felt violent.
Kyra backed up slowly instinctively. These were not wolves from Lupus Regalis.
Kyra watched as the wolves signaled to one another. She could swear she saw one give her an evil smirk before pouncing on her.
“Arrhhhhh.” Kyra screamed.
Those weren't Liam's friends and they weren't hers either.
