Eliana sat on the velvet couch in the Kwenzi mansion’s private lounge, her knees drawn to her chest as the silence around her deepened. Moonlight poured in through the arched windows, casting soft silver light across her face—but the warmth did nothing to calm the storm brewing in her chest.
She had power now.
She had light.
But she also had questions.
And the man lying two rooms down—half-wolf, half-fire, all war—held all the answers.
The door creaked open.
Lucas entered, dressed in a black sweater, bandages still wrapped around his side. Despite the exhaustion on his face, his eyes found her like a magnet.
“You’re awake,” he said gently.
“So are you,” she replied, not meeting his gaze. “They said you lost a lot of blood.”
“I’ve had worse,” he said, walking over slowly. “But you… Eliana, what you did out there—”
“I didn’t know I could,” she said quickly. “The light… it just burst out.”
“That wasn’t a burst,” Lucas said, sitting beside her. “That was your soul unlocking.”
Eliana swallowed. “So it’s real. The visions. The power. You.”
“All of it.”
There was a pause.
Then she asked what had haunted her since the first time they met. “Lucas… what am I?”
Lucas took a breath.
“Your mother was a Seer. She carried Okaru blood. Ancient. Rare. She never activated because her line remained dormant. But your grandmother… she was powerful. When she died, the gift passed to you.”
“And the dreams?”
“They’re not dreams. They’re echoes. Pieces of the Eclipse.”
Eliana’s brow furrowed. “What’s the Eclipse?”
Lucas stood and walked to a locked chest near the fireplace. He opened it and pulled out a map covered in strange moon symbols.
“The Eclipse is a celestial event that happens once every hundred years. When the moon covers the sun completely, it triggers a supernatural realignment. Powers reset. Prophecies awaken. And those bonded by fate either ascend... or fall.”
He laid the map in front of her, pointing to a mark labeled Luna’s Tear.
“Eliana, this eclipse… it’s not just about light and shadow. It’s about control. The Shadowbound want you because if they take your power during the Eclipse, they can rewrite fate itself.”
Her lips parted slightly. “And if I don’t let them?”
“Then we have a chance to break the curse. Not just mine. All of them.”
Eliana stared at the map.
“I’m just a girl,” she whispered.
“You were,” Lucas said, stepping closer. “But now you’re the key.”
She finally looked up, searching his eyes. “And you? What are you besides Alpha?”
Lucas hesitated. “I was created in the cave to be a weapon. A Barbarian Alpha. Meant to destroy everything in my path.”
“But you didn’t.”
“I almost did,” he said quietly. “When I first shifted… I tore through a whole pack. I didn’t remember who I was until I saw a girl being shielded by her mother. It stopped me. That light in them—like yours—it reminded me I was still human.”
Eliana’s heart ached. “You never told anyone?”
“No. Because no one would understand.”
She placed her hand over his. “I think I do.”
Outside the Room – A Storm Gathers
Unseen, the clouds above the estate swirled unnaturally. The moon dimmed, shrouded behind layers of storm.
In the shadows beneath the building, a symbol glowed on the grass—a wolf with a broken crown.
And far away, in a dark temple, a woman in silver eyeshadow whispered:
> “The light has chosen. Prepare the chains.”
Back Inside
Lucas placed two fingers under Eliana’s chin, gently raising her face.
“I never wanted this life. Not the curse, not the blood, not the fate.”
“But you were born for it,” she whispered.
“So were you,” he replied.
For a long second, the space between them vanished. Their lips brushed—only barely—before Lucas pulled back, shaking.
“I can’t,” he muttered.
Eliana’s breath hitched. “Because of the curse?”
“Because if I love you and lose control… I might destroy everything I’m trying to protect.”
She leaned closer. “Then we’ll find a way to fight it. Together.”
Suddenly – A Knock
Mr. Kwenzi stepped in, his expression unreadable. “We have a problem.”
Lucas stood. “What is it?”
“They’ve found the temple.”
Eliana stood too. “Temple?”
Mr. Kwenzi nodded. “The one that holds the second half of the prophecy. If the Shadowbound get there first, they’ll summon something that even your bond can’t stop.”
Lucas narrowed his eyes. “How long do we have?”
“Three days. Until the full Eclipse.”
Later That Night
Eliana lay awake in her room, staring at the ceiling. The stars above blinked like they were watching her.
She reached for the necklace her grandmother gave her. As her fingers brushed it, the crystal began to glow again.
> “The Alpha’s rage is your mirror,” a voice whispered in her head.
“Only your light can break his chain.”
Her eyes filled with tears.
It wasn’t just about love or fate anymore.
It was about survival.
And everything rested on her next choice.
Meanwhile – Lucas’s Balcony
He stared into the night, shirtless, healing wounds pulsing across his chest.
His wolf stirred beneath the surface, restless.
He clenched the railing.
“Eliana,” he whispered.
And somewhere in the dark, the moon flared… just for a second.
