The 21 pirates gave Li Yunxi a little over 10,000 experience points and dropped several items: a broken telescope, a broken sailor's hammer, and two broken wrenches.
A telescope can greatly increase a player's field of vision, a hammer can destroy buildings and stone walls, and a wrench can repair or unlock things. These are all seemingly insignificant items that you might need at any time.
There's also a piece of basic gear, with stats worse than the bronze equipment they're wearing. They also drop very few potions and coins. Just look at the tattered clothes these apprentice pirates are wearing; you can tell they're getting very little loot.
If there's one thing to gain from killing these apprentice pirates, it's military merit.
