Saraphina’s POV No... no, this wasn’t happening. Flames were everywhere, and I was in the middle of it all. The smell of burnt bodies filled the air everyone was dead around me, and I was the only one left standing. I didn’t know how I got here or what was happening. But I knew this was all me. I caused this. I screamed in agony and when I opened my eyes, I was in a room. The palace. I looked around, and I recognized this place. The king’s chambers. What was I doing here? My hands trembled as I sat up in the massive bed, drenched in sweat. The scent of ash still clung to my skin, thick and suffocating. My chest heaved, lungs desperate for air. But the flames they had felt real. Too real. I stared down at my hands, expecting to see blood, soot… something. But they were clean.
