Two days ago, when Albert had just returned from a business trip, he handed Diana a wedding invitation. It was from a city council member for the wedding of his youngest daughter. Diana believed that Albert felt obligated to invite her because of her status as his wife.
One of Albert's friends, Agatha, had just arrived. Diana had specifically asked Agatha to come over to help her choose a gown for the city council member's youngest daughter's wedding reception. Diana knew Agatha had an excellent sense of fashion.
From Agatha, Diana also knew that Albert was working late.
Diana looked delighted when Agatha arrived. "Agatha, sorry for the sudden call, but I really need your help. I'm so confused about which gown to wear for the wedding reception. You know how important this event is, right?"
Agatha smiled and pulled several gowns from Diana's closet. The closet looked more like a mini boutique.
Albert was rarely home, but Diana's every need was always met without asking, including her wardrobe. At every end of the month, Albert would send a top designer so Diana could freely customize the clothes and shoes she wanted. It was one of the reasons Diana stayed married to Albert, at least Albert remained attentive to Diana's needs as a wife.
After a while of inspecting Diana's closet, Agatha smiled broadly. "Don't worry, Diana. I think I have a few choices for you. Let's try them on one by one."
Diana nodded and began trying on the first gown, a satin emerald dress that shimmered under the lights. "What do you think? Too flashy?"
Agatha examined Diana from various angles. "This dress is beautiful, but I think the emerald color does look too flashy for you. Let's try another one."
Diana then puts on the second gown, a soft chiffon dress with lace details. "How about this one?"
Agatha frowned slightly. "Hmm, this dress is pretty, but it seems too simple for such a grand event. We need something more elegant and classy."
Taking a deep breath, Diana donned the third gown, an A-line dress in sapphire blue with sequined details on the bodice. "What about this?"
Agatha's smile widened immediately. "This is it! The sapphire blue truly highlights your charm, and the sequined details add just the right touch of glamour. You look stunning, Diana!"
Diana twirled in front of the mirror, feeling the fabric's softness against her skin. "You're right, Agatha. This dress is perfect. Thank you so much for your help."
Agatha adjusted the dress on Diana's shoulder and smiled gently. "I'm glad I could help, Diana."
Suddenly, Agatha received a call. Diana could tell it was important by the way Agatha's expression changed as she glanced at her phone.
"Sorry, Diana, I have to take this call. It seems important." Agatha looks confused.
Diana nodded understandingly. "Of course, go ahead." She immediately gave Agatha time to answer the phone call.
Agatha hurried to a corner of the room to answer the call. After a few minutes, she returned with a slightly anxious look. "Diana, I'm so sorry ... I think i have to leave now. There's something urgent I need to handle."
Diana furrowed her brows. "Is everything okay?" She was worried when she saw the look on Agatha's face.
Agatha quickly nodded. "Yes, don't worry. I just need to take care of it right away. You have the perfect dress, so there's no need to worry about that."
Having hastily said goodbye Agatha hurried to leave Diana to settle her own problem.
Not long after Agatha left, Diana's stomach growled. She hadn't eaten anything all day because she was too busy working. Her team leader had given her a lot of tasks, and in the evening, she was occupied with choosing a gown for the wedding reception.
Diana decided to just cook instant noodles. Although the chef had prepared a five-star restaurant-quality dinner, she had no appetite. It felt uncomfortable sitting alone at the large dining table with a complete meal and no one to share it with.
Diana sighed deeply, slightly regretting not thinking of asking Agatha to stay for dinner.
The kitchen was quiet. The household staff had likely retired to their quarters in the back of the main house. Diana reached into the large fridge, searching for fresh vegetables to add to her instant noodles.
After cooking the noodles, Diana glanced at the clock above the kitchen door. It was ten o'clock at night, and Albert still wasn't home. She trudged to the living room with a steaming bowl of noodles. Diana ate alone while watching TV, flipping through channels in search of something entertaining. Unfortunately, nothing caught her interest.
She was almost finished with her noodles when her phone buzzed. She checked her notifications, She saw a message from none other than her husband. For the first time, Albert had initiated a message to Diana, sending her a photo file out of the blue.
Could Albert have sent a picture of the gown he wanted her to wear? Diana tapped on her phone screen and downloaded the image Albert had sent. When the file opened, her phone slipped from her hand. Diana screamed hysterically. In the photo, Albert was sitting in his office chair, hugging a woman, they look very affectionate and passionate.
It seemed Albert had sent the photo unintentionally.
Tears instantly streamed down her cheeks. Without being able to think, Diana grabbed her car keys from the bookshelf.
Fuming with anger, Diana decided to confront her husband at his office, where he was working late. She needed an explanation from Albert immediately.
Driving at full speed, Diana headed toward Albert's office. When she arrived in the parking lot, she encountered William, who seemed to have just finished work. Seeing Diana rushing in, William didn't dare to greet or question her.
He suddenly felt something was amiss.
William quickly decided to contact Albert, but his call went unanswered. Anxiously, William sent a message to his friend. His gut feeling told him that if he didn't send that message, he would regret it deeply.
"Albert, you'd better be careful. I just saw your wife in the parking lot." William stared at his phone uneasily. The message to Albert remained unread.
