OLIVIA’S POV The light was still on when I opened my eyes. I blinked at the ceiling for a moment, disoriented in the specific way that came from falling asleep without meaning to. The book was on the bed beside me, spine up, open to somewhere in the middle. I had no memory of putting it down because I had not put it down. It had simply fallen when I did. I reached over and closed it. The clock on my phone said five fourteen in the morning. I pressed my palm flat against my forehead and stared at the ceiling. This is it, I thought.
