Encounters On The MoorThe three animals made their way up the hillside along a farm track. Following it towards higher ground, they passed the occasional rough road leading off to a hill farm but eventually all petered out completely. Picking their way across open moorland the ground became steadily steeper. The dark outline of distant hills rose against the night sky and the lights of an occasional moving vehicle betrayed a length of unlit road leading to the top of the moor. It was in that direction the fox led the fugitive pigs. ‘Don’t want to get too close and be picked up in the headlight beams of passing vehicles,’ he explained.
