Ramsden WoodsThe fugitives experienced a feeling of well-being on reaching Ramsden Woods. It was not simply being back to the cover and protection of trees or getting away from the wind, nor the result of ending a long spell exposed on the open moor and overcoming the problems encountered. It was something much more complex involving feelings of relief and sense of achievement. However, there was not the euphoria they might have expected, with a marked difference in their first impressions. Because of his natural optimism, Ginger was enthusiastic, while his sister was much more guarded with her comments and if truth was known rather disappointed. Her problem was trying to fulfil an impossible dream.
