Chapter 3~ The Duel

The servant after gasping at what Alex said they couldn't help but look towards their king to see his reaction, although his face gave nothing off but the pressure around them suddenly tripled, "what did you say?" the alpha asked Alex calmly "I said I want to be an alpha, the full moon is tomorrow and according to tradition anyone and challenge the alpha at that time" Alex replied confidently.

The moon goddess watching this from her throne could only shake her head at his stupidity, "he's so small and inexperienced yet he's challenging the alpha who has won many wars and challenges, how stupid could that be" she pointed her fingers towards the globe and a silvery light passed from her fingers into the globe to the alpha king, "refuse" she whispered

The alpha king hearing what Alex said was completely pissed out but suddenly the moon cast it's light on him and he suddenly felt calm so he replied "you know so much about the tradition, but you failed to remember only men of 15 and above who has served the king for years has the right to challenge the alpha, and you haven't met that criteria" "lemme guess" he continued "you're just 10 and you're not with your parents you feel you can become an alpha right?" The king guessed with a chuckle, Alex felt down , knowing he can't become the alpha anymore "I like your bravery though, so how about we do it this way. You'll serve me for 5years then when you feel you're strong enough you can challenge me then. and I'll be glad to accept your challenge so what do ya say?" The alpha asked with a smile, Alex thought for a moment if he goes back home he won't be able to get over his parents death meanwhile here he can serve the alpha while training to be strong, then he can defeat this alpha and take his place "I accept!" Now that's the spirit kid, Cedrick would assign a work for you till then go home and pack up" The alpha said and left.

Back in his castle his beta Cedrick confronted him "with all due respect sir I'll like to ask what the f**k happened out there, I mean how can that insolent kid just barge in and challenged you for a duel, not only did you stop me from teaching him a lesson you also offered him a job, what the heck, if word goes out that a random kid challenge the alpha for a duel and you honoured it, our enemies would think you're weak or scared and they'll come in and...." Cedrick kept ranting on and on

"hey slow down would you, I know you're worried about me but I have to assure you that I know just what am doing, I told him I'll only honour the duel when he grows and become stronger, besides I like that kid, he's very fit to be an alpha so I don't mind giving him the chance, you of all people knows that I don't have a mate or an heir so I prefer giving my throne to him than giving my throne to the enemies" The king cut him off

" why are you talking like an old man on his sick bed you know you're still young there is a possibility that you'll get an heir before then, you shouldn't assure him that he'll get the throne you know.." Cedrick continued "alright grandpa, let's go we have a lot to do" The king teased his beta before leaving..

5years passed quickly and it was now time for the duel, the whole wolf pack gathered to watch the brave young wolf who challenged their alpha to a duel.
