SIX MONTHS LATER
Alex asked me to help him load a few tractors on a trailer this morning before I head to the airport with Kat. Of course, I agreed since we’re leaving soon and will be in Alabama for the rest of the week to visit my parents. It’s important for her to meet everyone in person now that we’re engaged to be married. Sharing pictures and talking in FaceTime isn’t enough, considering she’s going to be a part of the family.
After I finish, I drive home and quietly enter the house as Kat stands at the counter, drinking a glass of milk. She's in her head, not paying attention as she looks out the kitchen window.
