THE FRAUDSTERS

Both of them dozing off to their respective dream world, so tired, indeed a hectic day though fantastic. Obviously approximately 4 a.m. dozing will only wake the sleepy heads just to have brunch. So in fact Millie and Eva woke at about 12 noon.

The rest of the family members had already set off to their day's chores . Mom dad to field and sadly but reluctantly Steel to school. No Escape had been possible today for our lazy head Steel.

Millie spoke,

" Eva? ,Did you have a wonderful doze off?"

"Yes, of course. Oh!, I very well enjoyed the deep sleep , moreover the weather gather out"

Eva pointing towards the sky ,

"make me have more time doze off!!" pityingly looking at Millie, Eva said, indeed Eva was right, the climate was so in favor for one to get cozy up between blankets and then sleep tight for the rest of the day, whatsoever, both of them were still on their bed ,still enjoying the warmth of the antique piece 'Millie's creaky bed' but the weather was cloudy, windy ,cool, the clouds weighed down, so dark that in minutes a heavy downpour can be expected.

Mille and Eva gazing out, enjoying the breeze were in their own land of make believe, that we all go through after having a tight sleep.

Then soon , suddenly a strong wind blew on shattering ,clattering the curtains and also kicking off Millie's bag which she had carried yesterday resting over the table.

Millie spoke,

"it's quite windy, will it even blow us off?" stating it she chuckled ,

Eva,

"Your bag is resting on the ground , though not us but your things are certainly smashed off"

saying , she soon got up from the bed , picked up the bag, in the process' the crushed though folded note' flew to the ground , Eva noticing it is she again stopped down to pick it up and then is when her eyes caught the attention of yet another mangled paper under the bed ,she crawled to pick it up as well, mean while Millie watching this said,

"Eva ?, you stooped so low , to your level , sublevel !!"

sarcastically mocking Eva off senses

"Millie, these days your secrecy and your dumb headedness are on the path up"

Eva collected the two pieces of paper , saying this, positioned the bag back on the table and jumped over the bed ,

"your things are so undisciplined, just like you "

Eva said, Millie soon counteracting, spoke " not to the extent, you are ,Eva!!"

Eva hearing this gave Millie a death stare and said ,

"no one indeed can compete you in your gibberlish talk, anyway look i got two pieces of paper one from your bag and one beneath the bed "

She showed the two bits of paper to Millie,

" open up? I don't remember as to what is it?"

Millie said , Eva unfolded one to find the medical rejection, she said,

" it's a result , the medical one "

"Thank God!!"

Millie taking it from her hands said , and again running eyes through it,

" Mom didn't find it, otherwise I would have been dead by now!"

Millie gave it back to Eva and asked her to hide it in her lowest table drawer shelf,

Eva getting up from the bed ,folded the envelope back and placed it on the lowest shelf as asked , getting back on bed Millie said giggling ,now open the next surprise!! Eva chuckling ,she opened the next bit that she had retrieved from Millie's bag,

" ' I knew you would come soon !!' "

Eva read , a shook Eva looked at Millie questioningly, noticing what she was mumbling, her reading the note, Millie spoke ,

"before uttering any of your superstitious fiction and predictions, let me clear my way off , Eva, It was a piece of paper that I had found from the bunny costume, It's indeed not for me, so you Miss detective Eva, don't work out your not so peachy brains now!"

Eva still in disbelief again going through the text, again looking at Millie

She spoke through

"Millie? , What if it was meant for you, given our situation the encounter with a spooky restaurant guy, his association with it and all, don't your webbed mind ever pass a thought?, if at all it was meant for you??"

"How come we could even live?, if we think and turn things to that aspect, Eva ? you should stop overthinking it might be your shear imagination, there are plenty of things for us best friends to chat on, why can't we focus on it just?"

Eva , helplessly closed back the note keeping back into Millie's bag ,she said,

"Ok , now tell me why this costume and why your current job??"

Millie pulled Eva ,made her sit beside her and narrated as to the whole incident, she being secretly doing this part time job to help her family, her brother, his selection Millie's awkward encounter with the guard, and a boy who she felt to be soo creepy , then ,finally to Eva , Eva so preciously was collecting the intellect poured out by Millie

"And now ,for God's sake let's not go on any further predictions and complications because I am so hungry and I feel my stomach will just burn off so come let's freshen up and eat Eva?"

Millie said, getting up from her bed and also adding ,she spoke,

" then I will take you to the shop ,my part-time job office and then return costume and collect money. Then we can just roam about and have fun ."

Eva though stopped , but deep in she was reluctant to move out of the topic , Millie without sparing a minute dragged Eva downstairs, freshening up turn-by-turn, they both sat on the table to have their brunch, which Millie's mom had already readied up and served hot, but now it had turned warm ,so ready to just gumble up, Millie and Eva had up to their appetite's content and were in so good mood.

Well said, 'a man's appetite is the designer of his mood' .

Both of them got ready to set out for their pre mentioned pleasures, trudging past the roads, their first destination was the shop that Millie had went to, the day before, the purpose was one, to return the costume, two and the most important, to collect the pay .

They reached the shop , got in, the Smirky lady wasn't in there instead another young lady, pleasant by face , well off by attitude was in charge for the day.

Eva, trailing Millie went to lady and she placing the costume on the desk spoke,

" excuse me mam!, yesterday I had borrowed the costume for the pamplet distribution, I am here to return this cause situations didn't allow me yesterday, I hope you understand ?"

The lady patiently heard Millie with a smile on her face , her facial tone soon swayed from calm to confused , she spoke

" mam, I'm really sorry!, I don't understand what you are intending to mean because as of our working hours ,yesterday was a holiday ,the shop was shut the night before last and its only open today, moreover non of our staff was present here "

Millie standing dumbstruck , she spoke

" but , i got this costume "

and she placed the part time job offer envelope on the desk ,

"This too, I was given this from here, a lady was also here yesterday , this costume, she asked to fetch from downstore and an old security guard down there were all present here yesterday! "

" sorry mam" ,

The lady spoke,

" indeed this job call is from our shop but its outdated , it isn't a call of near past cause the vacancies have been filled for now , moreover the costume, we don't have a bunny costume though we were in search of one , mam you are either highly mistaken, you might have approached an another but of a similar kind shop or you got tricked !!"

doting her talk , the phone on the desk rang , the lady soon picked it up saying ,

" pls excuse me "

Millie turned, Eva was standing silent just beside her , observing the whole chaos , then she opened her mouth to comfort Millie saying ,

"May be not a wrong shop but sadly you were tricked off Millie!"

Looking at Eva , Millie replied frustrated ,

" but Eva? , you saw me , the costume , the pamphlets, the note , even the note Eva??"

" the pamphlet "

Eva said interrupting,

" the weird boy who gave it to you? , do you have any left?"

" didn't I give one to you? "

Millie asked

" no , not to me , you had one left but you had given that to a boy , you remember? "

"Mam?",

Millie and Eva turning to the voice , the lady at the front desk spoke after having done with her on phone convo,

"Mam , let me look into the matter , if so then that would have been a break in , actually this shop owner is least bothered of its working so its a common breaking in place , but incident like this is strange, can I have you number?? So that I can contact you after having any information in my hand? "

Millie nodding gave her , her number ,

Millie and Eva now walked out ,after having taken the costume and the envelope with her back again , wondering what actually had happened?, why ? If so , then how can those fraudsters be found , struggling with these thoughts , Millie and comforting Eva beside her , they rerouted to have a drink.
